If anything is to be learned from the prior analysis of Kevin Skinner, it is this: His fans are psychotic. I have received more foul remarks and ill wishes in the comments to my original Kevin Skinner article than the other thirty-nine combined.
This is very much the same treatment I received when I voiced my skepticism of Daniel Jens, the singing soldier from Season 3. For those of you who do not remember, Jens sailed straight through into the Top 20, but ultimately he did not even meet my expectations. After all the spoiler acts had made it into the Top 20, the spoiler votes were stretched too far between too many acts. Of the nine spoiler acts that made it into the Top 20, only four made it into the Top 10.
This is the dilemma Kevin Skinner must now face as he enters the Top 20. Counting Skinner, there are seven spoiler acts just in the first round of semifinals alone. Skinner comes into the Top 20 alongside the Texas Tenors, the Fab Five, the Voices of Glory, and Grandma Lee, all of whom directly appeal to biased voters. Also, while the judges did him a big favor by eliminating Thia Megia, he will still have Arcadian Broad and Tony Hoard & Rory proverbially nipping at his heels, mooching additional spoiler votes away from him.
Skinner may deliver a moving performance, but he certainly has not shown much in the way of confidence. This is especially true of his song choices. Even though he has only performed twice, you can see the emergence of a pattern. For his open call performance, he chose to sing “If Tomorrow Never Comes” by Garth Brooks. Then when he performed in the Top 40, he chose to sing “Make You Feel My Love,” which has been covered by Garth Brooks.
If Skinner performs yet another Garth Brooks song for his performance in the Top 20, he will regret it. Why would America crown the best new act in America a performer who seems content to live entirely in another man’s shadow?
Do not misunderstand: Kevin Skinner is talented, but look at his competition in the first round of semifinals and ask yourself: if Kevin Skinner is advancing, who is going home?

I'm a fan of Skinner and I don't psychotic. You know, when the people contest our comments, it's frustrating but it's normal. This competition is a big joke with less talent than BGT.
One week is skinner favorite, second is Thia, and ......to finish this week with Acrodunk. Wow! Kevin is bad, Thia is out, Acrodunk is fantastic for this week only etc..........
Susan Boyle sings two songs in the same style in the competition and why is so important in the Usa to change de song everytime. Why Kevin is so contested now. I'm canadian and the AGT for me is finish cause we very disappointed.
His performance was undeniably off last night, and I'm not sure how the judges 'missed' it. I think they have a lot of influence on who goes through, whether by rigging the decisions, or just by their comments. If all of the judges would've said he was crap last night and he just didn't have what it takes to make it, I don't think he'd be such a fan favorite. If he does win, that will probably be the end for me.
