Acrodunk is immensely talented. Nobody ever disputed that. The first round of eliminations could not have resulted in the elimination of Thia Megia, one of the greatest upsets in AGT’s history, had their performance not been absolutely stellar.
Unfortunately, Acrodunk has yet to answer any of the questions that were asked about them, specifically in regards to their status as a veteran of Season 1.
The first season was lackluster at best – half of the acts that made it into the Top 10 of Season 1 would consider themselves lucky to even squeeze their way into the Top 20 with the assistance of the judges by AGT’s present standards.
Yet in spite of their lackluster competition, Acrodunk failed to make it into the Top 10 and ultimately faded back into obscurity at the season’s conclusion. It therefore begs the question: If America would send a trick dunk act into the Top 10 then, why would they send one into the Top 10 now?
The answer is because the format better suits them now. In season one, only two acts passed into the finals, one of which was randomly selected by the judges (the judges had chosen Rappin’ Granny during the round in which Acrodunk performed in Season 1 – another testament to their incompetence), leaving nine to compete for America’s vote with only the top two recipients receiving even so much as a nod from then host Regis Philbin. Now the top four pass into the next round, which allows talented groups to pass along with the spoiler acts that would have otherwise sent them home.
Acrodunk must now contend with nine other contestants that earned their right to be there all the same, but who specifically they are competing against could work to their advantage. America will have already written off Arcadian Broad and Tony Hoard & Rory, the two acts selected by the judges, narrowing down their list of competitors to seven. Of those seven, five of them are spoiler acts: The Texas Tenors, The Fab Five, The Voices of Glory, Kevin Skinner, and Grandma Lee.
As was mentioned in the original article concerning spoilers, spoiler voting categories often overlap, meaning that these five acts will be systematically dragging each other down when they perform in the same round at the Top 20. This will leave Acrodunk with only Paradizo Dance and Drew Thomas Magic to directly compete against.
If Acrodunk wants to make it into the Top 10, all they have to do is stay focused, provide more focus to their act, and make sure they do not miss.

What's the people want with this kind of contest? People who pass their life to be played with a balloon and will not go further like Diversity? The ridiculous ones which their face of clown? Singers with voices look like each other? Magicians? Children ?
A talent is in oneself,a charisma,a heart,a moment which makes us dream, a simplicity, originality and quality. Kevin Skinner is an artist whom I will support until the end without changing ideas like a band of sheep that one calls the public. They change their idea as one changes sock.
Disappointing to see all that. I will have the force to keep my choice until the end and it's Kevin Skinner.
Kevin like Subo has a problem with de scandal of AGT. No more promotion, more shouting of win. They lower this man to cover their errors and not be taken for sharpers. Sad this society of fearful and bitch and poor Kevin. Too more talent for this kind of contest.
I do not understand your review! How do the acts that you claim are spoilers pull each other down? I sounds to me like you are saying only Acrodunk (how many ways can you dunk a basketball), Drew Thomas (a magic act that does only disappearances) and Paradoza Dance (a decent act if they have proper stage props) are the ones to go to the top 10. You don't like singers, do you? I would say that of the singers in this group Kevin Skinner is the BEST, without a doubt. He holds the audience with a captivation of song done in the old fashion country way. Of your so called spoilers: Grandma Lee is a dull comedian but people like her because she is a grandma, (wonder if they would like me). Fab Five is good but not good enough for an hour in Vegas, Voices of Glory are good but they would need to change the way they sing to be good for an hour show. Texas Tenors need more time and practice to get their act better. Kevin Skinner is raw talent.
Jean Johnson: Spoiler acts pull each other down because NBC keeps tabs of who has voted how many times per method. Kevin Skinner and the Texas Tenors, for example, were very likely voted on in the first and second round of quarterfinals by the same people. Now that they are competing head to head, however, the people that had previously voted them through are going to have to either pick one of them or split their votes between them.
Kevin Skinner is the better of the two, and I absolutely expect the great majority of the aforementioned country spoiler voters to select him over the Texas Tenors. By extension, however, that makes the Texas Tenors one less act for Acrodunk to worry about.
