Austin, as everyone knows, is a haven for musical entertainment. On any given night, one can find talented artists demonstrating their musical prowess strictly for our enjoyment. Check out the slide show for my "Top 11 of 2011."
Some featured artists, such as Colin Hay, will be returning soon. If you haven't seen the former Men at Work frontman perform solo, you are truly missing out. Colin Hay is not only an accomplished singer and songwriter, he's also a very talented guitarist and a master storyteller. Included is a video from his performance last year. Catch Colin Hay in Austin at the One World Theatre on March 22, 2012 or in San Antonio at Sam's Burger Joint on March 24, 2012. Another band on my list is Oklahoma's Other Lives. This band caught my attention early on with their well arranged songs and strong live performance. The band has been in Austin several times, but the next time they come to town will be to open up for Radiohead at a sold out show at the Frank Erwin Center on March 7, 2012. Another band that I highly recommend is Communist Daughter. I am not aware of any current plans to tour Texas, but if they do come around, you should check them out. The song 'Speed of Sound' is still one of my favorite tracks of last year.
