The Top 10 Most Memorable TV Moments

There have been many memorable television scenes over the years that quickly became classic TV moments. While majority of these moments were good, some were sad; and till this day, those scenes still bring a tear to my eye.

From the farewell to Boy Meets World to the Huxtables singing a Ray Charles classic to Kevin and Winnie’s first kiss, here is a look at the top 10 most memorable moments in television.

1.  Boy Meets World Series Finale

For seven years we watched as Mr. Feeny taught and prepared Corey Matthews (Ben Savage), Eric Matthews (Will Friedle), Shawn Hunter (Rider Strong) and Topanga Lawrence (Danielle Fishel) for the real world.

Viewers watched these characters- and actors- grow up right before their eyes. Seeing the gang all sit down in the same seats they did when they were in Mr. Feeny’s class in junior high as they said their goodbyes to their favorite teacher/principal/next door neighbor in the series finale was a real tearjerker.

2. The Cosby Show Anniversary Gift

The Cosby Showhad many laugh out loud moments during its successful run on television. While there were a lot of funny moments, nothing stands out quite like the one that made the list of most memorable TV moments.

It was Russell and Anna Huxtable’s 49th anniversary and the family decided to treat them to a special performance of the Ray Charles song, Night Time is the Right Time.

3. Zack & Kelly Break Up

Zack Morris (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) and Kelly Kapowski (Tiffani Thiessen) were high school sweethearts who fell in love during their years at Bayside High.

Fans of the show watched Zack flirt and charm his way into Kelly’s heart, and not to mention our own. So when Kelly broke up with Zack at the prom, not only did it break Zack’s heart it also broke ours. The classic Michael Bolton hit How Am I Supposed to Live Without You will always be known as the song that Kelly dumped Zack to.

4. Kevin & Winnie’s First Kiss

Kevin Arnold (Fred Savage) and Winnie Cooper (Danica McKellar) shared a special bond and love for each other. It was a bond that television viewers quickly became envy of.

One of the best moments from The Wonder Years happened in the series pilot when Kevin and Winnie shared their first kiss with each other on the log in their special spot.

5. Izzie Stevens Falls for Denny Duquette

Denny Duquette (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) didn’t just capture the heart of medical intern Izzie Stevens (Katherine Heigl) but also the hearts of Grey’s Anatomy viewers everywhere when he first walked into the Seattle hospital to get treated for his heart condition.

Izzie was so in love with Denny that she took matters into her own hands when another patient was clocked in ahead of Denny to receive a heart. Izzie got desperate and did whatever she could in hopes of saving Denny’s heart. This heart-breaking scene became a moment that television viewers will never forget.

6. Jack McFarland & His Cher Doll

Picking the best moment from Will & Grace was difficult because the show produced some hilarious moments during the eight seasons it was on the air.

The scene chosen was between Jack McFarland (Sean Hayes) and his idol, Cher… his Cher doll was also there. Jack trying to do his best Cher impression in front of her and calling her a bad Cher drag queen was the reason this moment made the top 10 list.

7.  Jack McPhee Comes Out

Some of you are probably surprised to see Dawson’s Creek making the list. There was a moment during the second that changed the life of one of the show’s main characters. Jack McPhee (Kerr Smith) came out of the closet.

During the episode “To Be Or Not To Be” Jack had to share with the entire class his innermost secret when he read his poem out loud, announcing that he was gay. This moment was big because not a lot of television shows were having storylines like this.

8. Buffy’s Death

Buffy Summers (Sarah Michelle Gellar) has been through a lot during the seven years that Buffy The Vampire Slayer has been on the air. Her mom died, Angel (David Boreanaz) turned psycho and tried to kill her and she found out she had a sister, which we later learn that her sister is “the key” and someone is after her.

In the WB series finale, the show moved to UPN for two seasons, Buffy had to save her sister Dawn (Michelle Trachtenberg) from the apocalypse that was about to happen in Sunnydale. Glory (Clare Kramer) needed Dawn’s blood in order to break down the walls and unleash Hell on Earth. Since they’re sisters and share the same blood, Buffy sacrificed herself to save Dawn. Buffy’s death was one of the best moments in the history of that series.

9. Amy’s Grand Gesture to Ephram

The critically acclaimed series Everwood had many memorable moments. In fact, an entire list can be made on this show alone. It’s no wonder that television critics everywhere loved this show.

Ephram Brown (Gregory Smith) was known as “grand gesture Ephram” to Amy Abott (Emily VanCamp). Ephram got his dad to save her comatose boyfriend’s life, wrote that amazing letter about her for her Princeton application and he turned the Abott’s family cabin into a romantic getaway where she lost her virginity to the guy she loved with all her heart.

During the series finale Amy wanted to do a grand gesture to show Ephram that she loved him and wanted him back. She put the same Ferris wheel where she shared her special nickname, “Grover,” with him during the first season.

This grand gesture sparked Everwood fans to pitch in money to try and save the series by sticking a Ferris wheel in the middle of Los Angeles. Sadly this gesture didn’t work because the show was cancelled.

10. Ellen Comes Out

Ellen DeGeneres made television history when she came out to her parents on her television show, Ellen. This was also the time when Ellen announced to the world that she was gay. This was a historic moment because this was during a time when the gay community was looked down on.

Thanks to Ellen’s announcement, other people found the courage to tell their family and friends that they were gay.
