It’s all come down to this. You’ve read the worst 3D movies of 2011, the best 3D movies of 2011 and the worst movies of 2011. Now, finally, it is time to reveal the best of the best. Below are the top ten movies of 2011. You may find a few surprises. Happy New Year!
10. “Paul” – If Steven Spielberg decided to make E.T. an R-rated movie, he would have made Paul.
9. “Rango” – See? Not all animated movies have to be made into 3D. They just have to be good and entertaining.
8. “The Artist” – Who would have thought a black & white silent movie, could be so good? A front-runner at this years Oscars for sure.
7. “The Adventures of Tintin” – This was the best 3D movie of the year and Spielberg’s best popcorn movie since “Jurassic Park”.
6. “Mission: Impossible: Ghost Protocol” – The best Mission: Impossible move yet!
5. “X-Men: First Class” – The best comic book movie of 2011 and the best X-men movie of all!
4. “Super 8” – A masterpiece from J.J. Abrams. Many called it a love letter to Steven Spielberg and it was (it was how I wrote my movie review to it). A great adventure the whole family could enjoy just like in Spielberg’s heyday.
3. “Take Shelter” – You do not lead the Independent Spirit Awards in nominations unless you made one terrific flick. Hopefully, it will garner some Oscar nominations as well and get a better release. If so, go see this movie!
2. “The Help” – It was a photo finish between the #1 and #2 movies this year. It is no surprise to learn the number of nominations, especially in the acting category, this movie has earned.
1. “The Whistleblower” – This was the first movie to earn a five star rating in 2011. It opened the first ever Palm Beach Woman’s International Film Festival. It’s hard to imagine the PBWIFF ever finding a better opening night movie. This powerful drama based on the true story Kathryn Bolkovac, played by Oscar winner Rachel Weisz, and how she exposed the United Nations covering up the sex slave trade going on in post-war Bosnia. This movie may not have been seen by many people, but it was the best movie of 2011.
It was a down year at the box office in 2011; however, the line up for 2012 looks to be one for the record books. Which of them will make next year’s top 10?
