The Time is Ripe to Join One of Northeast Ohio's Many CSA's

Early spring in Northeast Ohio (and elsewhere) is the time of year to sign up for your CSA share. Community Supported Agriculture, or CSA’s, are a great way to get fresh in-season produce and support a local farmer or co-op at the same time.

The NEO Restoration Alliance (http://neorestorationalliance.org/) has limited shares available for the 2011 season. Make sure to sign up now so that your family will have locally grown produce all season long.

From their press release:

What is Community Supported Agriculture and how can you participate?

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) shares are a way of buying into the local food movement and getting fresh food every week during the growing season.

Typically local farmers sell their food at farmers’ markets, roadside stands and to local restaurants and grocery stores. About 20 years ago American farmers began following a model developed in other parts of the world – the CSA – which is like buying a “subscription” to get food regularly, prepaid, reserved.
