“The Thrilling Adventure and Supernatural Suspense Hour” is a charming staged comedy production constructed out of vignettes in the style of a 1940's radio show. The program features three one-act plays as well as jingles and messages from the fictional sponsors such as Patriot Brand Cigarettes ("Good for your Constitution"). Writers Ben Acker & Ben Blacker create visions, where present, past and future are indistinguishable. We take a glimpse into their crystal ball and see an ephemeral world of fantasy. Their funny characters battle aliens, make stone soup and dupe vicious clowns. Their plays foster wonder and nostalgia for the Golden Age of Radio with its amazing music, mysterious superheroes, and family shows.
The wonderful actors known as the “WorkJuice Players” create this world of curiosity and play. They are: Paul F. Tompkins (Best Week Ever), Paget Brewster (Criminal Minds), Marc Evan Jackson (Funny Or Die's "Carpet Bros"), John DiMaggio (Futurama's Bender), Dave (Gruber) Allen (Freaks & Geeks), Samm Levine (Freaks & Geeks; Inglourious Basterds), James Urbaniak (“Henry Fool”), John Ennis (Mr. Show), Tom Lenk (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Kirsten Vangsness (Criminal Minds), Mark Gagliardi, Craig Cackowski, Hal Lublin, and Annie Savage. The players are accompanied by the effervescent Andy Paley Orchestra, which brings the lively and exhilarating music of the 30s and 40s back to life.
The show is held monthly at Largo at the Coronet in Hollywood . Visit Largo for the next performance of “The Thrilling Adventure and Supernatural Suspense Hour” on Saturday, October the 2nd.
