Gay owned and operated for more than a decade, the Eagle has developed a reputation as the friendly Bear bar of the Twin Cities; with an abundance of beer, pool, and mirth. The average age of an Eagle frequenter is roughly 30 on, although come the start of the weekend something in the atmosphere goes through a distinct transformation.
Ah, Friday nights at the Eagle. Show up between 4-7 with a ten in your pocket and a smile, and you will be joining in the popular rite of debauchery known as “3-for-1’s”. Affectionately termed as “Threefers” night among many GLBT folk in Minneapolis, the Eagle becomes packed wall-to-wall with folk of most any age, background, or discernable “style”. A $5 cover at the door will get you in, the rest of your cash will net you three rail drinks or beers for the price of one, and your smile will perhaps attract some lovely… entertainment for the duration of your outing.
Is $10 stretching your definition of thrifty? In addition to procuring a better paying job, you might want to consider a Monday night Eagle excursion; after 9 p.m. a pitcher of Miller Lite runs $5 and imparts a (rather satisfying) smug sense of fiscal responsibility. Sunday nights are something special as well, featuring a 4-8 “beer bust” where but $9 will permit you to indulge in an all-you-can-drink fest.
The Eagle is located at 515 Washington Ave S. in Minneapolis. For other stellar drink specials and events, check out www.minneapoliseagle.com
