"The Three Gifts" is a Hallmark Channel Original Movie that premiered in 2009 and continues to air during Hallmark's Countdown to Christmas programming. The holiday movie stars Dean Cain, Jean Louisa Kelly, Mimi Kennedy and Reginald VelJohnson.
Jack (Cain) and Cherie (Kelly) are a childless couple who own a natural toy company. Jack's Aunt Rita (Kennedy) runs an orphanage that needs renovations,so she needs to find temporary housing for some of the older children. Rita asks Jack to take in three boys, but he is apprehensive because said boys are well known troublemakers around town. Cherie, however, is excited at the prospect of having children around for the holidays.
The three boys, Mike (Dylan Sprayberry), Henry (Alex Zubarev) and Ray (Spencir Bridges) move in and overhear that one of them might get adopted by their temporary guardians. Each of them is desperate to be chosen, so they start to compete for favor.
Toymaker Rodney (VelJohnson) can see the boys need a strong hand and discipline. In just a week, the boys are able to turn their acts around, learning the value of teamwork and respect. Jack is surprised to find that he enjoys having the boys around.
The boys are upset when they hear that they are all headed back to the orphanage after the holidays. Heartbroken, they decide to run away. It is only once they have gone missing that Jack realizes he’s ready to be a father – their father – and even the young at heart must grow up and adopt responsibility.
