The Thermals sign to Saddle Creek Records

Oregon’s indie rock/bar band darlings The Thermals just announced a cool change in record label—these lo-fi punks made a smooth move from Kill Rock Stars to Saddle Creek Records, The AV Club reported yesterday.

The Omaha-based label, co-founded by Mike Mogis (of Bright Eyes, Monsters of Folk, etc.) houses a bevy of talent, including Azure Ray, Bright Eyes, Cursive, Desaparecidos, etc., including some friends with strange tones, such as The Faint. The Thermals fit right into the label’s successful DIY aesthetic.

Big things are already in the cards for The Thermals, as the band’s announcement to sign with Saddle Creek was paired with news of a new album. The band’s sixth album, Desperate Ground is due on April 16. The album is produced by John Agnello, who has worked with household names such as Dinosaur Jr., Sonic Youth, The Hold Steady, and more.

Here is Desperate Ground’s tracklisting-

1 Born to Kill
2 You Will Be Free
3 The Sunset
4 I Go Alone
5 The Sword By My Side
6 You Will Find Me
7 Faces Stay With Me
8 The Howl of the Winds
9 Where I Stand
10 Our Love Survives
