'The Thanksgiving Song' by Adam Sandler is a holiday classic

Thanksgiving 2011 is right around the corner, so it's the perfect time to pay tribute to Adam Sandler's memorable nod to the national holiday. "The Thanksgiving Song" was first performed during "Weekend Update" on Saturday Night Live on November 21, 1992. Nearly two decades later, it’s still as hilarious as when it premiered.

Revolving primarily around the repetition of the word turkey in two-line word rhymes, “The Turkey Song” is a funny, non-sensible tribute to Thanksgiving. Who can forget…?

Turkey and gravy and cranberries. Can’t believe the Mets traded Darryl Strawberry.

Other pop culture and celebrity references during Adam Sandler's "The Turkey Song" include:

  • Betty Grable
  • 50,000,000 Elvis who fans can’t be wrong
  • Turkey-related drowsiness
  • Jimmy Walker’s portrayal of JJ Evans and his catch phrase “Din-O-Mite!”
  • Cheryl Tiegs posters
  • Sammy Davis, Jr.
  • Corduroy pants
  • Mike Tyson
  • Mopeds

After the success of “The Thanksgiving Song,” Adam Sandler returned to Saturday Night Live to sing “The Hanukkah Song,” which became even more popular.

Best wishes for a wonerful Thanksgiving!
