Mary Ross (Rose) is a Boston lawyer who unexpectedly inherits a house in Plymouth from her late aunt. When she inherits the house, her first instinct is to sell it, but she has no idea that it may be a historical treasure.
Mary and her slick boyfriend, Rick (Kaufman) visit the house and make plans to sell. They are shocked to discover local historian Everett Mather (Bruening) has evidence that her house is located on the site of the first Thanksgiving, which makes it a possible historical site and tourist attraction.
An unscrupulous gossip blogger Ashleigh Mulligan (Cerina Vincent, "Cabin Fever") also finds out about the discovery and starts to spread the word about the house through media.
Mary begins to recover happy memories about visiting at the house as a child and starts to cling to the house as an artifact of her own history. Many of her later childhood memories were tarnished by feelings of abandonment because her father left her mother
Everett tries to prove his theory about the site of the very first Thanksgiving, while Mary tries to prove anything that will keep the house in her hands. Mary and Everett’s passionate battle over the house creates a need for legal mediation. Everett’s lawyer father Parker (Boxleitner) gets involved in the case.
Rick starts to see how that house could be a money-maker as a tourist attraction. Fed up with his controlling behavior, Mary breaks up with him.
In the meantime, Everett and Mary are battling about legal issues, but romantic sparks are flying. Everett invites Mary to his parent's house for dinner, where Mary hits it off with his mother Abigail (Wagner).
Mary starts to develop a love for Thanksgiving that radiates from both Everett and Abigail.
