The ten plagues of the judgment of God against Egypt, part 9.

“Now if we accept the allegation that the NIV makes,” the Reverend J.A. Layman, evangelist with Sterling Ministries, before The Lay School faculty here in Clinton, Tennessee, continued, “that the references clearly identified with the qualifying adjective, proper name, ‘the Red’ actually mean ‘reeds’ [which, by the way, Strong’s concurs that the word translated ‘the Red’ can mean ‘reed’:

Strong’s #H5488

Actual Hebrew: סוּף

Transliterated as: sûph

Pronounced as: soof

MEANING: Probably of Egyptian origin; a reed, especially the papyrus: - flag. Red [sea], weed. Compare H5489.

And tells us to compare:

Strong’s #H5489

Actual Hebrew: סוּף

Transliterated: sûph

Pronounced as: soof

MEANING: For H5488 (by ellipsis of H3220); the Reed (Sea): - Red sea.]

then we have yet another series of miracles for the Scriptures in chapter 14 clearly speaks of:

(1) ‘waters’ being divided, and while a marshland by definition consists of mud and water, such a geographic feature generally does not have the amount of water indicated by the words in this passage, so God would have had to drastically increase the amount of water in Sea of Reeds to supply enough water for the waters to be divided;

(2) both the Israelites and the Egyptians going through on dry land with ‘walls’ of water on either side, so God’s supply of water would have had to have been very great according to both passages in the NIV and the KJV;

and, (3), the amount of water God would have had to supply to the Sea of Reeds would have had to have been so great in order to drown Pharaoh’s entire army of charioteers, chariots, and horses such that not one of them survived!

Or, if you subscribe to more common belief that ‘the sea’ truly refers to the Red Sea, there is no need for God to supply the additional water necessary to fulfill what the Scripture records, for there is an ample supply of water in the Red Sea to accomplish it! AMEN!
