The ten plagues of the judgment of God against Egypt, part 7.
“So far we have identified nineteen miracles in eight plagues God brought upon Egypt,” reiterated the Reverend J.A. Layman, evangelist with Sterling Ministries, before The Lay School faculty here in Clinton, Tennessee. “And in the last two of the plagues we find not only the original plague as a miracle, but, in each case, an additional miracle as well. Consider:
Plague/sign 9: (Exodus 10:21-23) This plague/sign was a plague of thick darkness for three days, and yet there was another miracle included with this plague on the Egyptians because verse 23 records that ‘all of the children of Israel had light in their dwellings’!
Plague/sign 10: (Exodus 11:1-12:30) This plague, ostensibly last of the ten plagues God brought upon Egypt, was the death of the firstborn of Egypt: ‘from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle’ (Exodus 10:29). Yet there was another very important miracle that happened in conjunction with it – through the application of lamb’s blood upon ‘the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses’ where the Israelites were eating the Passover meal, as it came to be called because God ‘passed over’ them when He destroyed the firstborn of Egypt, the firstborn of Israel were spared; yet another miracle!
