What is our government coming to when there is no real difference between the current tactics being used by the Tea Party wing of the Republican Party and tactics used by Al-Qaeda. Sounds far-fetched? Not when you consider a group of radical extremists stooping to dangerous terrorist tactics like threatening a shut down of the federal government. Not when you consider a group of domestic political terrorists stooping to extortion to defund and ultimately kill a law passed by both the House and Senate, signed by the President who was reelected, and then ruled Constitutional by the Supreme Court of the United States. This is what is commonly referred to as treason and will put the country and the American economy at a greater risk than anything a terrorist organization could do.
Are the Teahadists (under the watchful eye of spiritual leader Ted Cruz) even considering the precedent they are setting? What if in the future Republicans control the Presidency and one of two bodies of Congress and the Democrats threaten to use extortion to shut down the government because of a law that they don’t like and want defunded and repealed. Is this this the way government is going to work going forward? The Affordable Care Act (“ACA”) is the law of the land because a majority of Americans voted for healthcare reform. Republicans had a chance to repeal it through legitimate means in 2012 and the Supreme Court ultimately ruled the law was constitutional in a 5-4 decision that even included conservative Chief Justice John Roberts. Up to now, the House has wasted valuable time and taxpayer money on voting 41times to repeal Obamacare - even after the President said he will veto the bill if the Senate passes it.
Moreover, the Teahadists claim to be pro-free market and defenders of competition. The health insurance exchanges allow health insurance buyers to compare one plan to another and freely choose on the basis of coverage and costs. Americans don’t have to worry about getting screwed by insurance companies any more for pre-exisiting conditions or higher premiums. How is this socialized medicine? The fact is that the ACA ends the spreading of costs for unpaid bills through the community (that’s socialism) that lead to higher health insurance payments and higher taxes for everyone. The ACA does this by by ensuring that everyone has health insurance. Here I thought Republicans didn’t like free rides.
The bottom line is that the Republicans lost in the last election -- in which the President was re-elected and Democrats gained seats in the Senate and also gained seats in the House. These extortion threats are the threats of sore losers who are now officially traitors to the nation - a tyrannical minority, with no respect for our democracy. They are willing to destroy the country to get what they couldn't get legitimately and lawfully. They have contributed nothing but obstruction at every turn since the 2010 elections when they took control of the Republican Party. America is not blind though, they realize what is going on. The Al-Qaeda Tea Partiers are being dismissed for the extremist crackpots that they are and now they proceed at their own demise.
