The Tea Parties sure aren't what they used to be

MSNBC - "Tea Partiers" protesting in Washington

The point of the "Tea Party" is to promote fiscal conservatism, and it doesn't get any simpler than that.  When you look down through the history of this country, that's really all it's been used for, and particularly used on Tax Day in the United States to protest against higher taxation and balancing the national budget.

For some odd reason, over the past year, the Tea Party has created an agenda to not only protest "Obama's raising of their taxes," but also proceed to call him tyrannic (as seen in the photo to the right), a socialist, a racist, use old Soviet Union flags around his pictures, promote violence, and continually ask to see his birth certificate or, and quoted from a Tea Partier sign, "Ship him back to Kenya!."

These kind of actions are not only frightening, but disgusting.  Below are a few subjects of interest currently happening with the Tea Party Movement that have been outlined.  In these outlines, you'll have explanations, examples, and proof of what's currently occurring.  The outlines will also provide you with reasons why the current Tea Party Movement is going against it's origin and purpose, and factual evidence about why what they are protesting is factually and statistically incorrect.

"Obama is raising our taxes!"

44% of Tea Partiers believe that Barack Obama has raised taxes on them.  Such an astonishing factor considering that he has CUT taxes for 95% of Americans.  The other 5%, which are the wealthy of this nation, are still under the tax cuts laid forth by President Bush.

Obama's tax cuts were part of the Recovery Act.  You know, the "Stimulus Plan" that everyone hated so much?  If you hated the "Stimulus Plan," then you hated tax cuts.  Either that, or you just don't care and want to complain because it sounds good to say that an "evil Democrat is raising my taxes!"

The writer regrets to inform you that a large part of the reason we are in a recession, is because of the spending for a War in Iraq and Afghanistan and tax cuts in the middle of both of those wars for...no, not the middle class...but the wealthy.  Tax cuts do not "stimulate the economy" or "lower the deficit."  They in fact do the opposite, and widen the deficit.  The less taxes we bring in, the less we have to pay for the country's deficit, which in turn leads to more borrowing from foreign countries.

Anyone that has a common knowledge of how taxes work should know that they are never really meant to be cut anyway.  You cut taxes, you create deficits, as mentioned before.  However, there's no need to write about that and waste 2 hours of your time without any visuals.  Ms. Rachel Maddow of MSNBC has a great explanation of all things I previously mentioned about taxes, and like always, she lays all the proof out on the table for you.  Take a look yourself --

Here, also, is another great video that validates the 44% statistic spoken of earlier -

"We're ushering in socialism!"

You first need to understand what "socialism" is before you even attempt to comprehend whether Barack Obama, his administration, or Congress are "socialists."  According to Dictionary.com (it's amazing how many people fail to use this or any sort of reference besides Faux News and the uneducated hosts on their programming), socialism is "the stage in Marxist-Leninist theory intermediate between capitalism and communism, in which collective ownership of the economy under the dictatorship of the proletariat has not yet been successfully achieved."

So we're on the verge of Communism?  How do you explain that?  You don't, because it doesn't make sense, and we're not (on the verge of Communism).  To take from the rich and give to the poor, you first need to actually raise taxes on the rich, which hasn't happened.  It won't happen until the George W. Bush tax cuts expire, and even then taxes won't be raised - the tax cuts just simply won't be renewed.

Besides, the super rich, or the ones that are referred to as "the capital gainers," pay significantly less taxes than ANYONE in this country.  These are the people like Bill Gates, Warren Buffett...your billionaires.  They pay a flat capital gainer tax rate of 20%.  Do you know what middle-class income individuals pay towards Social Security alone?  FIFTEEN PERCENT!  Capital gainers don't have to pay social security, don't have to pay medicare/medicaid, but yet they benefit from all of these programs.  For example, when you go to Kroger or Wal-Mart and spend money on prescriptions from social security, where do you think the money goes?  You're still padding corporate big-wig pockets, but yet, they don't have to pay a single dime into the funds.  Do you think we would be "in the red" in any of these programs if these capital gainers (1% of America) who own 90% of the country's wealth would pay their fair share of taxes into them?

Some of you will probably say, "Don't tax the rich, the rich create jobs!"  No, their companies do.  There's a difference between raising taxes on a company, and raising taxes on an individual.  Business taxes are entirely different from individual taxes.  This ideology about "taxing the rich creates less jobs" is a Reaganomics farce.  Trickle-down economics don't work, folks, and what we're experiencing now is at the tail-end of Reagan Economists' misunderstanding of common economic procedures.  Which are: don't cut taxes in the middle of a war, ESPECIALLY FOR THE WEALTHY!  The public debt triple from 900 billion to 2.8 trillon dollars during Reagan's term.  The same thing happened, except significantly more, during George W. Bush's terms in office.  Is it just a coincidence?  Sadly, no.

So you see, socialism has not been happening from the top-down in this country.  It never has, and never will.  Although what you have seen for the past 21 of 30 years of Presidential elects is socialism from the bottom-up.  Taking from the poor and middle classes, and giving to the rich.  If you don't agree with what's going on, then you're labeled "anti-American," "lazy," or told you're "receiving handouts" instead of working hard to reach "the American Dream."  Truth be told, there's nothing more communist or socialist in this country than a bunch of fascist pigs who want to take money from the true blue-collar and white-collar hard working Americans, and give it as "handouts" to the rich.

"I want to see Obama's birth certificate!"

This line is old and worn out.  The state of Hawaii has released a news paper clipping (on the day Mr. Obama was born) that actually is celebrating the birth of Barack Obama in the state.  What else is really needed?  Why do you need to see his birth certificate?  Did you ask for George Bush's?  Did you ask for Bill Clinton's?  Did you ask George, Sr's or Reagan's?

People want to see his birth certificate because his name "doesn't sound American."  Sorry to burst your pint-sized bubbles, but NOTHING in the United States "sounds American," because there isn't a single one of us that are native to this country.  All of our families immigrated here from other countries.  In fact, Native Americans migrated from other countries to America, and aren't really "native."  Because they were actually here before The United States settlers, and we killed them and stole their land, we refer to them as "Native Americans."

Regardless, the whole "let's see his birth certificate" ideology is a drawn out misinformed crack from Rush Limbaugh, who doesn't take too kindly to people who don't have a white pigmentation to their skin.  Barack Obama is a natural born citizen.  The day people stop listening to people who don't have any sort of formal education, whether it be on the radio (Rush Limbaugh), or on FauxNews (Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck), the day this country will start turning the corner from the race barrier that seemingly still plagues millions of people.

"Obama is Anti-American because he hates America."

Look, there's a difference between hating the country you live in and being ashamed of it.  You can be ashamed of the things your country is involved with, but still be Patriotic.  The assumption that because you don't agree or are ashamed with past/current Bush Administration policies that you are "anti-American," is about as fascist as you can get.

Those sort of comments and principles are not what this country was founded on.  We were founded on the principles of disagreeing with our government and the people running it.  After all, isn't that what you (Tea Partiers) are protesting to the begin with?  It seems as though it's okay for Republicans to raise their disagreements with Democrats, but it's "anti-American" when Democrats do it to Republicans.  Look at it any way you want...it's hypocritical.

We need to come together as a nation and figure out the problems.  It seems we honestly won't be able to do that sort of thing until both the Democrat and Republican parties are torn apart from one another.  Thomas Jefferson and George Washington both wrote about how this country wouldn't explode externally, but would explode within.  We're seeing that happen now, and it needs to stop.  One way we can stop that is to get someone into office with fresh ideas that aren't "party specific."  Someone that thinks for him/herself, not someone that's going to send us into wars for personal reasons of aggression or because it suits his/her party to do so.

The quotes that were mentioned are why the Tea Party today is misinformed and misrepresented.  Ron Paul had a great idea to start-up Tea Parties during his 2008 Presidential Election campaign - protest raising of taxes and unconstitutionally aggressive wars (Iraq).  The comments you are seeing are just a tip of the iceberg!  Below is a quote from Michelle Bachmann from a recent Tea Party appearance -

"I am the No. 1 target for one more extremist group to defeat this November," she said. "We need to have your help for candidates like me. We need you to take out some of these bad guys."

The woman is promoting violence.  There's no ifs, ands, or buts about it!  When you start preaching this kind of talk into people's heads, especially some of the nut-jobs and extremists (see Okalahome City Bombings) on the right-side, you're just calling or asking for something violent to happen.  An act of violence shouldn't be what's needed to have this country rally around one-another.

Vote the neocons out of office and save the violence.  That's the best advice that can be given here.  It seems as though these people want something violent to happen so they can "garner back the trust of the people."  The whole problem is that they are the ones instigating it.  You can hate on terrorists all you want, but terrorists aren't any different than elected conservative officials promoting violence.

Cheap Plug - Once a week I will be answering any and all questions from readers.  It can be anything from the 2010 Elections, Health Care Reform, Financial Reform (Wall Street), Educational Loan Reform, Immigration Reform, etc.  Be sure to stick to politics!  You can e-mail your questions here, and also reach me on Facebook and Twitter.

What the hells going on with the mainstream media? Building up the right-wing wackos? ARE YOU NUTS? Seems like the Corporations that run our NEWS want to convince Americans that right-wing nuts deserve ALL THE NATIONAL ATTENTION! Wall to wall Tea Party

Funnny thing… I didn’t see these so-called journalists around when 100’s of 1000’s on the LEFT wing were out in the streets protesting the money pit in Iraq or all the waste, fraud, abuse, scandal, sexual deviancy, corruption, lies, incompetence, job outsourcing, off-shore tax evasion, reckless economics, war profiteering, Constitutional violations AND a Corporate Crime Wave of epic proportions….

Where was the Tea Party anger THEN? #*~/’n hypocrites…

I’ve been fighting against Republicans since 2000 when the Supreme Court decided counting all the votes in Florida wasn’t important…. and GAVE US ALL THE BUSH/CHENEY DISASTER!

I don't see how anybody can have a problem with the Tea Party people. They sincerely fear for the future of our country. They seem to be hard working middle class people that are afraid the government is growing at a very rapid pace. I stumbled onto one of their rallies Thursday evening (right across the parking lot from the track I was going to)and found it to be full of the most wholesome families and children you will ever see. I have always said I'm far to busy to involve myself in politics, but maybe at age 40 it's time I take a look at the direction of our country.

  • Nietzschean 2 years ago

Hey Dallas, now that the pathetic lies that the TP passes as political ideology have been contradicted by (ahem) facts, all you've got is "oh, but TeaBaggers are wholesome." Typical GOP emotionalizing to conveniently avoid rationality, which, if applied by most of its members, would lead to the undoing of this "movement." We ALL have the responsibility of being truthful in our communications, which includes actively checking both facts and assumptions, examining our intentions, and reflecting on how our actions might affect others.

"Did you ask for George Bush's? Did you ask for Bill Clinton's? Did you ask George, Sr's or Reagan's?" Actually they did. But it was the RNC that vetted at each state. And when McCain gave his birth place in Panama the left cried foul and said he was not able to run. He produced his long form birth certificate, the one where a doctor signed and stated who his parents were. The only thing from Obama is a certificate of live birth (not to be mistaken for a birth certificate) and a newspaper ad? I know the Governor of HI has said she saw it, but why can’t the American citizens see it? The president can end this mess but he won't because he would rather keep the divisiveness which relates to power. Which in itself is very disrespectful of Americans. It’s one thing for my president to insult other politicians but to insult ordinary American citizens is unbecoming of the leader of the free.

  • Robert Dicken 2 years ago

SPO101 - You make a very good point! Where were the Tea Partiers when the Patriot Act was enforced which, by all means, throws the 4th Amendment out the door?

Dallas - Over 50% of Tea Partiers make $50,000 ore more a year compared to the 44% of that nation that do. Not saying they aren't middle class, but just pointing out that a large amount of them might not be. However, that doesn't mean they should be protesting things that aren't factually correctly or even happening.

Nietzschean - I definitely agree with you. Great point on being responsible for checking on facts. It seems as though Republicans and Conservatives alike promote "personal responsibility," but can't seem to do any research or don't try to understand/comprehend the things they are complaining about. Officials in Congress promoting this garbage is what's breaking them so far off from the rest of America.

*If* Obama was indeed born in Hawaii, he was born equally a citizen of the UK and the USA (this is the claim made on Obama's own website). Then, following Mr. Dicken's loose standards for natural born citizenship, Obama, being born a dual citizen, must be equally a natural born citizen of both these countries (UK and USA) at once.

However, it strains all logic and credibility to assert that the Founders, who had just fought a bloody war of independence to cut the ties of influence and control from Great Britain, intended that a natural born citizen of Great Britain ever could become President. The Constitution's NBC clause was added expressly to prevent this very occurrence, the very situation we are suffering under today with dual-citizen-born putative President Obama.

Obama has trashed the Constitution and committed premeditated criminal fraud upon We the People. He is a usurper plain and simple.

Lt. Col. Lakin is a surgeon who questions Obama's Presidential eligibility and, therefore, the lawfulness of his orders. LTC Lakin has refused to report for deployment to Afghanistan. He is putting his honorable, 18 year military career on the line for his principles. His defense through the Supreme Court will be expensive.

58% of Americans want to see Obama's birth certificate. I don't often donate to causes but I am one of those 58% and I just donated $5 to LTC Lakin's defense fund. If all 58% did the same, it would a.) easily cover Lakin's defense fund and, b.) send a powerful message to Washington! Put that idea on Facebook and all the other social networks. Get it on the blogs. Make it happen!

I loved the false liberal pride of the old TEA Party in the title... Like this self labeled writer had some initial respect for the movement. I guess he is also some kind of self labeled Government accountant as well lecturing us on Jack Ass economics. I know that to be a modern leftist you must merely have no work ethic and blame Bush. You also have to insist that the opposition is richer than you and that you pay your fair share of taxes. Anyone that buys this stuff probably gets free stupid pills from Obamacare. Keep up the propaganda and see ya in November!

  • Robert Dicken 2 years ago

prsmith - But Lt. Col. Lakin was willing to report for President Bush on unconstitutional measures? His belief is hypocritical in the least.

thinkwell - The U.S. Constitution has nothing of the sort stating that dual-born citizens couldn't be President of the United States. The President was born in Hawaii, a state within the United States. He is a natural born citizen any which way you want to spin it.

Pocket Nemesis - You've insulted in throwing insults and Republican rhetoric into thinking Republicans are going to do well this November. Not gonna happen.

  • JoeSaebi 2 years ago

You sir, are the prime example of our incompetent media bilge. Anyone alive during the Carter debacle knows what is coming: tax hikes through the kazoo, weak-kneed liberal foreign policy, and mega-inflation. The fact that you don't know it speaks volumes about you and the pukes you represent. Until the plague of liberalism infects to nearly the point of national catharsis, you dummies keep spewing your barf on the public; then when the smell of our own financial demise, and political weakness becomes evident, your ilk finally retreats into hiding. Can't you just write to each other instead of swallowing innocents into your lie?

  • thinkwell 2 years ago

    Mr. Dicken,

The US Constitution has the clear requirement that the POTUS must be a natural born Citizen. I assert that that excludes born dual-citizens because the Founders would specifically wish to exclude anyone born with any kind of British citizenship, such as is the case with Obama (the usurper). Do you disagree the Founders wished such and, if not, what do you assert has changed that would allow such?

What, in your mind, is the difference between a plain citizen and a natural born Citizen (i.e., why did the Founders include this provision and who were they trying to exclude)?

Hey, yet another journalist espousing ideological opinion rather than factual content. Nice try, you got it all wrong.

  • Robert Dicken 2 years ago

JoeSaebi - You must have not read the article. When you have a deficit, you do not cut taxes as it just widens it. If you receive a pay cut from work, would you be able to pay off the same debts you had before? No, it would likely widen the debts and cause more borrowing/spending.

thinkwell - I don't think dual-citizenships were even on the mind of the founding fathers at the time. Society and needs are an ever evolving process, and mostly unpredictable. The founding fathers were smart guys, but they were also slave owners. Get what I am saying? The wouldn't have been able to predict such a thing happening. Regardless, just because you get dual-citizenship when you're born, doesn't disqualify you as a President of this country.

Kay - Have you? I know that when FauxNews endorses ANYTHING, it can't be good. I appreciate your analysis, but I've seen the signs, seen the actions, and know that there sure aren't any minorities in these rallies!

  • Pocket Nemesis 2 years ago

I am not a birther per se... But if it is all on the up and up shouldn't the POTUS just produce the real document and make it public record instead of spending over 1.7 million to keep it under wraps? Why not just end the issue? Prove the Wingnuts wrong and give the leftists more time to blame Bush and perpetuate class welfare.

  • Jake 2 years ago

When you have a deficit you do not spend more than every other president had preceding you because even the hated rich can not cover that amount of spending. Lets not pretend there is any fiscal responsibility from this administration at all. November will be great since there is such denial.

  • Little Tea Pot 2 years ago

SPO101: Why all the bombast? In what way is (liberal) main stream media building up Conservatives? I see snide comments & rudeness.
The media was doing stories on all of the things you mentioned. When Republicans were caught in wrong doing (or just under not-yet-proven-false suspicion), they resigned. The Democrats caught in wrong doing said, "Nuh-Ah". "I didn't do it!". "Oh, you have proof?". "Well, I'm still not quitting." Democrat misdeeds were only discussed on main stream media when the ground swell on Conservative blogs & talk radio was too loud to ignore anymore.
We, in the Tea Parties, were busy working. We were noticing things that we didn't like, but, now, we must stand up & make our voices heard. We are respectful, don't leave a mess behind & don't damage others' property or persons. Same cannot be said for LEFT wing protesters or activists.
Florida refused to allow the shenanigans to continue with ballots "found" in car trunks, etc. to be counted.

  • Little Tea Pot 2 years ago

Michele Bachmann was not calling for any harm to be done to the Liberals. She was calling for them to be voted out of office. It is disingenuous to suggest otherwise. She is a strong Conservative voice. Large quantities of money are coming in from outside her home state to try to unseat her. She has been targeted. The Left is already running commercials against her. A few weeks ago, over 10,000 people took the time on a weekday, during work hours, to gather to hear her speak, along with Sarah Palin & Sean Hannity. They do largely say what is in our hearts.

Having lived long enough, we have seen how the real world works. We are not fooled by Liberal slogans. We see where what you say doesn't match what you do. We are teaching our children to be discerning. More & more of us are spitting out the koolaid & opening our eyes. We will not be so easily lead. We expect any that we vote for to be & stay Conservative. Both parties have been driving us over a cliff, but Dems hit the accelr8r

Pocket Nemesis - Do you honestly think that the FBI, Supreme Court, or CIA for that matter, would allow a non-U.S. Citizen to become President? Ask for Dubbya's birth certificate...it's obvious he was born on Planet Moron.

Jake - Open your Economics 101 text book. The first page will likely tell you that YOU DO NOT put a spending freeze on in the middle of a recession. Last person to do that? Herbert Hoover, and he caused the Great Depression. But, along with the current deficit, I guess we'll just get some more selective amnesia on that too.

LittleTeaPot - Have you been to any foreign countries? If not, then how do you know "how the world works?" Conservatives believe in property, property rights, and laws regarding property. Liberals study human beings, the lives of human beings, their needs, and their ever evolving nature. Here's a question...if you had to get $100,000 for an operation for a loved one, would you just "conserve it fiscally" and ignore the operation? C

Here is a head's up on parts of Dodd's Financial Recovery bill:

When a firm fails, shareholders will be wiped out & managers will be fired. A "Resolution Authority" is set up within Dodd's bill that would allow Goldman Sachs creditors to avoid bankruptcy court (if it comes to it). Under the "resolution authority" fund of $50 billion dollars, set up by firms & contributed to it by them, creditors of the failed Big Firms (like Goldman Sachs) get around 100 cents on the dollar. Any smaller failed firms - they don't get to tap into that $50 billion dollar "resolution authority" & their creditors get stuck going to bankruptcy court where they will be lucky to get 50 cents on the dollar.

Other companies, big & small, such as auto, life insurance and a host of other businesses will be forced to pay into this "resolution authority" to make sure that the creditors of failed Big Firms get their 100 cents on the dollar. They will pass the ccost of this contribution on to consumers.

    Dave - Good point.

Bill - I outlined the Wall Street Reform legislation in my commentary about Mitch McConnell. The fact that Republicans don't want reform to happen to a part of this country that severely crippled our economy, is VERY scary. We had deregulation for 8 years and it caused a meltdown, oil prices to skyrocket because of oil speculation (previously outlawed), and big banks to hold oil in storage facilities away from consumers to jack the prices up and make a larger profit. That isn't Capitalism, that's Fascism and Communism at it's finest.

The assumption that because you don't agree or are ashamed with past/current Bush Administration policies that you are "anti-American," is about as fascist as you can get.

You should take your own advice and use a dictionary more often, because your use of the word "fascist" isn't even close! Here is a list of words you can use instead: ridiculous, asinine, silly, retarded, stupid, dumb, or ludicrous

In addition to using a dictionary regularly, you should also find a book or online source to help you with grammar. Once you master those, you should definitely look into finding a class or workshop that can help you with logic and research. Basing your arguments on things you thought of when you were drunk does not fall into the realm of "facts." Also, MSNBC is a terrible source for everything.

You should be getting more per paycheck via Federal Withholding. if you are not, then your company is making a mistake. If you are seeing less from your paycheck, it could also be in an increase in state, local, and county taxes.

I make under $50,000 too. Compared to George W. Bush, I received more each paycheck. If you have not, then something is wrong.

Robert, as a middle class citizen myself, I have a small business. Taxes are going up. Also, because of the poor economy I am forced to sell some acreage from our farm. Capital gains are going up as well. If you are in the corporate world / IT, you may not feel the effects. Rest assured, my taxes are going up and I wish it were not true. Some people like to say that as Americans we enjoy some of the lowest taxes on the planet. However, this is simply not true. Our taxes are divided and hidden. We have federal income tax, State income tax, property tax, Auto tags, Ad Valorem, sales tax, imbedded gasoline tax, imbedded tax on tobacco (I don't use toabcco), Federal and state excize taxes on all my utility bills and cell phone bills. There are more taxes that I have not even listed. President Obama is now dabbling with Global treaties that will add even more tax. When time is taken to figue out what we pay in all our taxes combined, it's over 68% and rising.

Gail - It doesn't make a difference whether Barack Obama shows the United States citizens his birth certificate or not. Even if he was not born on U.S. Soil, he was born to his mother whom was a United States citizen at the time (from Kansas). John McCain was ALSO not born in the United States, he was born in Panama, but he was eligible for the Presidency because his parents were United States citizens. It doesn't matter where Barack Obama was born, he is a United States citizen and therefore eligible to be President.

Kirk - I understand exactly what you're saying, but the majority of taxes you mentioned are state taxes and Barack Obama has absolutely nothing to do with that. If you feel discouraged by the state taxes and fees you currently pay, write to your Governor or setup a time to speak to him personally. I feel your pain. I have personally been laid off twice from the IT world since May of last year, but I do see the economy turning the corner.

Teabaggers are idiots and they are just a flash in the pan, fly-by phenomenon. No one will remember them and no one cares for them.

    1. While Obama has cut taxes to 95% of the people, he has started to tax oil companies, and all kinds of other businesses. What I find strange is that you do not realize that the raising of taxes on business, simply results in higher prices, to ALL of the people ALL of the time.
    2. The Tyranny poster, in the picture is factually incorrect in your statement. IT DOES NOT call Barak Obama a Tyrant. It simply calls the democratic led government tyrannical by forcing new taxes on vital business, and ignoring the will of the people. Over 50% of the people white, black, and hispanic, objected to the Health Care bill yet it was passed. Do YOU know what is in the Bill? Stupidest statement EVER by a politician.. Nancy Pelosi, "Lets Get it passed and then worry about whats in it!" EVEN you Robert have to question the sanity of such a statement.
    3. The Stimulus plan raised the deficit. IT WILL have to be paid and by my GREAT grandchildren. That is why 50+% were against the bail outs and inc. deb

Your statement that taxes were never meant to be cut anyway????
Seriously, if we limit spending, cut taxes and increase what people take home, MORE taxes are generated. EVEN JFK realized that and when he cut the mean tax in the 60's The United States as a nation profited.
Taxes eat up capital. Capital is what MAKES business. No capital no business. Small businesses turn into big business. IE look at say Microsoft, which started in a garage and is now the largest most profitable company in the world. It generates income for itself AND for the government.
Taxes were never meant to be RAISED. You need to go back and read the history of this nation. The founding fathers abhorred taxes and eschewed them as a way for government to be funded. Tarrifs were supposed to be the ONLY thing generating income, as well as usage fees to pay for the army and the Congress and Government Employees.
Robert, you suffer from the ideas that are generated by a media that is one sided. I too was a lib

    Jim,

1 - So after the BP incident, you don't think taxes should be raised on oil companies? Raise those taxes, we have enough money to assist in the cleanups of their idiocy.

Oil and transportation is also 110+ year old technology. it's ran it's course. Alternative transportation methods are currently out there that either don't use as much fuel (Hybrids) or use none at all (Fuel Cells). We have tax credits in place to compensate the people that purchase these forms of alternative transportation.

2 - Vital business? What is he taxing that's "vital" to this country besides oil companies? Even then, it's not "vital." Read the statement above I just made about oil companies and taxation.

Yes, Jim, it's tyrannical to pass legislation that has failed to pass for the past 50 years because of people making too much money off it. /sarcasm - The legislation wasn't going to be perfect, simply because it's too large. You pass it and amend it as time goes on.

    Jim,

    On to your 3rd point...

3 - I find it funny that people were against bailouts when it happened under Obama's belt, because it was Congress and George W. Bush that DRAFTED the bailouts. Not to mention, during the 1980's under Ronald Reagan, he recorded record borrowing and spending and tax cuts, which ALL bailed out the rich and corporations. Please read my latest article "Making a Profit - Why America is Failing." It will give you an insight of what's really going on in America.

"Seriously, if we limit spending, cut taxes and increase what people take home, MORE taxes are generated. EVEN JFK realized that and when he cut the mean tax in the 60's The United States as a nation profited. "

When you cut taxes, you are borrowing money to make up for those tax cuts. You are creating a deficit by cutting taxes. It will spur spending economically, but the tax revenue is still not coming in, so you're still in a deficit.

Take a bill for example, Jim. Let's say you decide to cut what you pay to your Electric company each month because you want to put that money somewhere else, let's say towards a credit card. However, you're not bringing in any more money to take care of what left you have to pay the Electric company, UNTIL you get a raise. So UNTIL you get a raise, you are constantly going to be behind on that Electric Bill, are you not? Sure, you could put it on that credit card, but that's just temporary until you get the next Electric bill.
