On July 23, 2014 The Taste of Newfound returned for its fourth consecutive year to The Inn On Newfound Lake. Although the dark clouds and impending rain made the crowd smaller than usual, there was no shortage of flavorful dishes to taste at this delicious, and very filling, event.
Residents and visitors from both near and far sampled the best of the restaurants and Inns from the region. There were so many different flavors to experience from savory to sweet. The Reuben fritters from The Common Man where certainly a surprise. They packed the full flavor of a thick Reuben sandwich into a little ball. The Tai meatballs with peanut sauce from The Inn on Newfound Lake were oh so tasty and had a pleasant kick. Smokin Bear BBQ offered up authentic Texas BBQ that made me want to kick up my heals and do a two step. The spinach salad from Pat’s Pizza and Seafood was truly delightful, filled with fresh greens, mandarin oranges, dried cranberries, almond slivers tossed in a citrus dressing. Then of course there were the tempting cheese trays from Shop-n-Save and savory dips from The Newfound Grocery, who could possibly resist. I didn't get to snack at all the tables, or else they would have had to roll this reporter out of the event. But, like I always say, save some room for dessert, and I'm glad I did. The creamy ice cream from The Mill Fudge Factory was scrumdiddlyumptious, and the chocolate-raspberry cake from The Inn on Newfound Lake was to die for. From appetizers to dessert and everything in-between, the Taste of Newfound had a little something for everyone.
Along with the many restaurants, several local business had displays and handed out goody bags. The Newfound Lake Region Association also offered Eco-Boat tours on Newfound Lake. What a great event, be sure to add it to your calendars for next year!
