Labor Day weekend is just around the corner folks and there's no better way to spend it, then at Taste put on by the Los Angeles Times.
'The Taste' is our favorite culinary event and once again, it's taking place at Paramount Studios in Hollywood.
The festivities kick off Friday evening, August 30th, 7:30 p.m. - 11:30 p.m, with an Opening Night Party, presented by Tequila Don Julio.
Attendees will enjoy cocktails, wine tastings, live entertainment and delicious bites from some of L. A.'s best restaurants including...Pizzeria Mozza, Oliverio (Avalon Hotel) Bagatelle, Bedford and Burns, Candela Taco Bar and Lounge, Carson House, Coco Laurent, Firefly, Fishing with Dynamite, La Sandia, Loteria Grill, Manhattan Beach Post, STK, Taberna Arros Y Vi and The Blvd located at The Beverly Wilshire Hotel.
The culinary celebration continues on Saturday, August 31st 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with...Field to Fork where...
Russ Parsons, (Times Food Editor) along with award winning chef Michael Cimarusti (Providence, Connie and Ted's) This wonderful event, focusing on fresh local ingredients, will feature demos from Ari Taymor (Alma), Sherry Yard (Helms Bakery) Ray Garcia (FIG) and Cimarusti.
When you're ready to chow down, some of L. A.'s finest restaurants...Bibigo, Canele, DOMA, Farmshop, Good Girl Dinette, Hamasuku, Michael's on Naples, Momed, Mr. Chow, Muddy Leek, Nobu, Pizza Antica, RivaBella, Sun Cafe Organic and The Curious Palate, will be on hand to satisfied even the most finicky appetite.
After digesting the afternoon's delectable treats, you'll be ready for Saturday evening's homage to everything that makes the Southland a world-class dining destination...
Flavors of L. A, (7:30 p.m.-11:30 p.m.) hosted by Los Angeles Times restaurant critic, Jonathan Gold, along with chef Sang Yoon (Father's Office and Lukson) will include...
Cooking demonstrations from Yoon, Brooke Williamson (Hudson House/The Tripel) Bryant Ng (Spice Table) Josef Centeno (Baco Mercat/ Bar Ama) as well as a mixology session with Robin Chopra (Corazon y Miel).
And then of course, there's the food...Some of my favorite restaurants will be on hand to delight your taste buds, including...800 Degrees, Angelini Osteria, Border Grill, Bulgarini Gelato, Chakra Indian Cuisine, Chichen Itza, City Tavern, Mayura, Meals by Genet, Pinches Tacos and Wood & Vine.
After a night of digesting, everyone should be ready for Sunday's, Labor Day Block Party.
From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Times Test Kitchen Director, Noelle Carter and Osteria Mozza and Pizzeria Mossa, chef and co-owner, Nancy Silverton, will give us an inside look at barbecue, with 'Going Whole Hog: Tales from Masters of Competition BBQ. Nancy, Evan Kleiman, Fred Eric (D'Elish') and Times Columnist, Steve Lopez's will include, cooking demonstrations, as well as the crowd-pleasing, Firehouse Cook-off.
This will definitely wet your appetite, for more culinary treats, from...Boa Steakhouse, Brite Spot, Cafe Gratitude, Coni 'Seafood', Freddy Smalls Bar + Kitchen, Got Kosher? Haven Gastropub, Juan's Restaurante, Kings Row Gastropub, Pizzeria il Fico, Pono Burger, Rosebud Cakes and Waffles de Liege.
The 'Taste' closes out the holiday weekend on Sunday night, 7:30 - 11:30 p.m with Cocktail Confidential, hosted by Times Deputy Food Editor, Betty Hallock, Times food and Night life writer, Jessica Gelt and cocktail chef, Matthew Biancaniello.
The three will put on a farm-to-glass craft cocktail demo, followed by one of L. A.'s boldest pairs, Michael Voltaggio and Gabriella Mlynarczyk (Ink) who, along with several other culinary masters, will share their inspiration for food and drink combinations.
Some of the participating restaurants, for this evening event will be...Chi Lin, Cliff's Edge, Jitlada, L & E Oyster Bar, Manhattan Beach Creamery, Mexikosher, The Pub at Golden Road Brewing, Stella Barra, The Cake Mamas, The Corner Door, The Counter, The Park Restaurant, Worldwide Tacos and Zengo.
'The Taste' 2013, is a celebration of great chefs, great food, and great talk...It's an event for anyone who loves food or just wants to have a good time.
Tickets for Opening Night are $125. Early-bird tickets for all other TASTE events are available now for $50 and will be $85 at the door; a limited quantity of Weekend Passes for all four Saturday and Sunday events is available for $175.
