The Tall Ships are coming!

The Tall Ships are coming to Boston, despite the controversy about the costs. The Massachusetts Convention Center Authority has saved the day with $1 million to pay for the costs of security.

As reported in the Boston Globe, The Convention Authority will use money from a fund paid for with hotel excise taxes and rental car surcharges. Officials said that the governor, who has the authority to use the funds, has given the green light.

However, this time around the Tall Ships will not stream into the harbor under full sail in the traditional Parade of Sail, nor will there be any fireworks to light up the night sky. Still, Bostonians will be able to climb aboard some of the ships, at no costs, when they dock, on July 9 and 10 in the evening and during the day, on July 11 and 12.

49 ships are now scheduled to arrive, starting on July 8th and depart, by July 13th. The ships' arrival and departures will also be staggered, so they will not all get into or leave Boston at the same time.
