Saturday September 13th 2013; my sweet tooth got the best of me at Vegas’ most popular candy store; The Sugar Factory. With multiple locations in the city, I visited the location at Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood; where I was able to sit with Charissa Davidovici, founder of The Sugar Factory. No doubt a business to be in and expand, Davidovici explains the ideas for newest flavors, designs and packaging literally come to her under the most normal settings; such as in the kitchen and around the house. What she has done here, is nothing short of genius, by marrying candy to drinks on top of a retail store.
While I visited, I tried the S’mores Martini, composed of Liqour 43, Three Olives Vodka,Godiva Milk Chocolate, Monin toasted Marshmallows, heavy whipped cream, rimmed with chocolate syrup and graham crackers. This was to die for and as I explained to Charissa, it was in a league of its own. In comparison to other chocolate martini’s I have tasted, I will say this was the absolute best, by far. I’m thinking it has something to do with the final after taste from the Govida and the graham cracker that follows.
I also took a bite out of the Lollipop Passion, mixed with Pineapple Juice, Fresh Lemon Sour, Midori Melon Liquor, Bacardi Rock Coconut, Ketel Citroen and Sprite, Garnished with lollipops and candy necklaces. This one I was most excited about tasting because it’s the one I saw first when I was introduced to the name, Sugar Factory. It is their most popular Goblet, and so it’s no mystery to me that it would be the one I loved.
And lastly, my eyes were drawn to the Blue Dragon Rock Candy, which is made from, Dragon Berry Rum, Blue Lemonade, Garnish with rock candy. My sweet tooth was satisfied and I was on a sugar high for the rest of the day.
Overall, it was a pleasure visiting the location, trying some of their most popular flavors and taking a tour of the store. It was an honor meeting the founder, Charissa Davidovici and having a one on one of how the business came to fruition. I even watched her work in the store behind the counter. This to me is what people who are hands on, passionate about what they do and believe in the highest level of service would do. This business shows no signs of slowing down!Special thanks to Sara Alamshaw for making this visit possible and Charissa for your time and devotion to the store, business and brand.
I am happy to announce that I will have the pleasure of visiting the New York location in October. This is something I am really looking forward to.
Sugar Factory will expand to Los Angeles' Hollywood and Highland, Town Square Las Vegas, Brooklyn's Barclays Center and Washington, D.C.'s Union Station this fall.
