The Sweet Spot Bakery: An introductory visit

Located at 2912 Texas Sage Trail, just across from JCPenney, next to a WhichWich sandwich shop, The Sweet Spot Bakery is a great new addition to the Alliance Town Center in North Fort Worth.  Having just opened a few weeks ago, I had to stop in for a taste of the treats advertised on their Facebook page that they make sure to update daily.

Upon my arrival, the very personable lady in charge greeted me and after telling her who I was, she explained to me what was on the menu for that day in great detail.  While giving me time to decide what I wanted and to place my order with another bakery employee, she ran to the back to retrieve the "Shama Lama Ding Dong" that she had reserved just for me, as I had  told her via Facebook that I would be stopping by for a treat.  As I waited to order, I took a look around me at the bakery itself.  Decorated in a fun diamond-shaped pink & black(or was it brown?!) print on the walls and a really cute antique dresser situated against the main wall, the bakery is very eye-catching and definitely makes you want to stop in while just walking or driving by.

Now on to what I ordered to take back home to share... Curiosity won over and I had to try the PB&J cupcake - peanut butter and jelly in a cupcake?!  And because there wasn't much left at the time of day I arrived, I chose one of each cupcake that was left (minus the vanilla and coconut - vanilla I will try next time and we're not fans of coconut).  So they boxed up my blueberry, red velvet, and pb&j cupcakes along with a box holding the huge shama lama ding dong and I was on my way.  At $2.95 per cupcake, it can get expensive if you're not careful!

Now for the reviews!

Peanut Butter & Jelly:  What a nice surprise!  It seems that the peanut butter is found sitting on top of the cupcake in icing form.  It has a very smooth and creamy taste to it and is not too sweet, which to me, is a bonus.  The jelly is hidden inside the cupcake itself, offering a bit of a sweet fruity taste to the moist cupcake.  When eaten together, this makes a delicious mix of the traditional pb&j flavor that all kids (and adults!) enjoy.  One hint - if you're like me and you tend to eat the icing separate from the cupcake itself, you will want to forego that habit this one time and try it all together, as that's when you'll experience the best of this unique cupcake.

Blueberry:  Probably the family favorite - this cupcake was wonderful!  Filled with a very flavorful blueberry filling, the blueberry cupcake itself was very moist and tasty and such a hit right away.  In the words of my father-in-law, this cupcake was "Fine!". Eating this sweet treat made you feel like you were having a healthy snack.  Very tricky, Sweet Spot Bakery!

Red Velvet:  Upon hearing that this was a customer favorite, I just had to try one of these, as I, too, love anything with red velvet in the name.  Surprisingly, however, this wasn't a favorite of mine.  It was very moist and flavorful, but the taste was a bit different than the traditional red velvet flavor that I've had before.  Maybe I just need to taste test it again to make sure!  Not a bad choice by any means, this red velvet cupcake would still be purchased by me again in the future.  Not to mention, it has a superb rich and buttery icing topping it off!

Shama Lama Ding Dong:  WOW.  This sucker is big!  And they tell me that you can order them even larger!  I can't imagine what that would be like, but it definitely is a good idea for a dessert if you're ever looking for something to bring to a dinner party or family get-together.  This is made with The Sweet Spot's signature chocolate cake with a creamy white filling all dunked into a melted chocolate that hardens around it, creating a ding dong type of treat.  The outside chocolate I found to be a bit too sweet, but no worries - I just chipped away at that and ate the inside!  The cake is delicious and makes me very anxious and excited to go back for more cupcakes made in this flavor, and the cream wasn't too sweet and so it made for a very tasty treat.

A photographer on the side, I am ashamed to say I forgot to take photos of these yummy treats before I dug into them!  So I'm headed out in just a bit to sample a few more items from The Sweet Spot Bakery and those I will definitely post for you to see the goodness this shop has to offer!

Also to note, The Sweet Spot offers a wide variety of bakery items including fried pies, decorated cookies, custom order cakes, and more!  And if you find them on Facebook, you may even come across some deals and discounts that they tend to offer each week!

Thank you, Sweet Spot for being a delightful stop for some amazing desserts!
