The Sacramento Surge will host a match as part of the 2013-2014 U.S. Open Arena Soccer Cup. Their opponent for the match is the Yamhill County Crew of the Premier Arena Soccer League. They earned a spot in the round of thirty-two by defeating the South Sound Football Club 8-5 last month. The winner of the game will face the Bay Area Rosal in the round of sixteen. Rosal made it to the sweet sixteen by defeating the Turlock Express last week 5-4. Sacramento is looking forward to facing their rival and Yamhill wants to make a name for themselves by advancing in the tournament.
The U.S. Open Arena Soccer Cup was established in 2008 during the the creation of the Professional Arena Soccer League. The first winners of the cup were the St. Louis Illusion, the San Diego Sockers won the next three before losing to the Detroit Waza in the finals of the 2012-2013 tournament. The defending champions Waza will face the winner of the Real Harrisburg and the Harrisburg Heat this Thursday night.
