Health enthusiasts are turning to the bible to discover super foods. Have you heard the expression "eat close to the earth?" For some, this means eating more plant based foods. This week an article "The bible diet: 5 foods and drinks from the Bible we still consume today"...," featured 5 foods and drinks from the bible that can be classified as super foods.
The article stated that food made its presence known at the beginning of creation. "Then God said, "I will give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food." Genesis 1:29
Sounds like a plant based diet? The following 5 foods were named in the article as food that may have healing properties:
*Olive Oil- (Exodus 27:20) A healthy monounsaturated fatty acid (good fat). Lowers cholesterol
*Matzo (unleavened bread)- (Exodus 12:17) High in protein, iron and folic acid. Promotes a healthy GI Tract.
* Lentils and Beans-( 2 Samuel 23:11-12) High in magnesium,potassium, iron...)Increases energy.
*Vinegar- (Numbers 6:3) Heals digestive disorders, arthritis and aids in weight loss.
*Wine- (Genesis 14:17-19) Reduces risk of heart attacks, stroke, cataracts and type 2 diabetes.
