Welcome to The Sunday Funnies, a regular feature devoted solely to the lighter side of life. This week’s edition features the newest Internet sensation, an adorable sleeping baby that awakens and comes to life to Psy’s “Gangnam Style”. On Feb. 9, the video was featured on ABC News for good reason. It’s just plain funny.
“Gangnam Style” is Korean rapper Psy’s claim to fame. Last year, Psy picked up a Guinness World Record award after his video topped LMFAO and Justin Bieber as the most “Liked” video on YouTube, with more than one billion views.
Psy’s real name is Park Jae-Sang, but he goes by his stage name of Psy (short for Psycho). Since hitting the Internet last summer, “Gangnam Style” spread like wildfire. Psy became an instant hit in America and appeared on the MTV VMAs, CNN International, “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” “Nightline,” “Today,” “Saturday Night Live,” and “Chelsea Lately.” Plus, Psy made a splash at the 2012 iHeart Radio Festival in Las Vegas and mixed it up with Miley Cyrus, Kathy Griffin and Ryan Lochte. Psy was also a hit at the AMA Awards and chatted with Jay Leno on “The Tonight Show.”
Just when you thought Psy’s 15 minutes of fame were up, he’s back. This new video proves that Psy’s quirky, colorful and outrageously catchy “Gangnam Style” is not dead at all, but alive and well.
The newest YouTube hit features a sleeping baby girl who springs to life when “Gangnam Style” plays on the radio. She starts moving her tiny body to the beat of the song, as her big sister looks on and laughs hysterically. The end result is 600,000 views on YouTube and a video that’s worthy of this week’s Sunday Funnies honors.
