The Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas released a preview video of his next solo album on Thursday. In the distorted clip, he jams out with The Voidz while new tracks play in the background.

Casablancas released his first solo album "Phrazes for the Young" in 2009. In the years that followed, he regrouped with The Strokes for 2011's "Angles" and last year's quietly released "Comedown Machine." Daft Punk later enlisted Casablancas for a feature on "Instant Crush." He co-wrote the track and won a Grammy in January when Daft Punk's "Random Access Memories" took home the Album of the Year.

Julian's new album with The Voidz will be his second foray into music sans The Strokes. While "Phrazes" sported a synth-rock sound, the first few songs in the preview seem to be grittier and more punk-influenced. Casablancas and The Voidz rock out as vintage clips of riots and video games play on. The tracks at the tail end of the preview are fittingly retro and electronic.

As far as a release date goes, the preview says Casablancas' new album is "coming soon" via his label Cult Records.
