Directed by Bryan Bertino, and released in 2008, The Strangers was dubbed an American psychological thriller. The film follows the exploits of three masked strangers that wear an assortment of doll masks, bag over the head, and a bunny mask. The masked strangers start the film off by knocking on the door of a couple. When the couple answers, there is no one there. Soon they are terrorized by the masked strangers as they enter their house, and damage all the couple’s means of escape.
After the couple, Kristen McKay and James Hoyt realize that their car has been sabotaged, their phones cut, and their cell phones taken they realize they are in major trouble. Soon the attacks escalate as the masked strangers will not let them leave and are preventing all forms of outside communication. James tries to shoot the strangers, and Kristen tries to escape as each plan fails. After an accidental shooting, James and Kristen are out of options when the strangers move in and strap them to chairs. What happens next is truly horrifying as the climax comes to head giving the audience the reason why the strangers are attacking them.
