The Steampunk World's Fair Part II

In case you need a reminder of what The Steampunk World’s Fair is, allow me to quote the official Web site:

Welcome to a three-day expedition into yesterday’s future! (And no, that doesn’t mean the present!) SPWF is the first East Coast event to welcome Steampunks, Neo-Victorians, Retro-futurists, Gas Lamp Fantasists, and any and all others who consider themselves part of steampunk into a weekend long festival celebrating all things steamy!

And now on to the second part of the article.

You already know that one of my favorite bands Black Tape for a Blue Girl is performing at the festival, and Sam Rosenthal has recently announced that Brian Viglione will be joining them. I hear that is always a treat for everyone involved, including Black Tape themselves.

And if all of this isn’t incentive enough for me to make the short journey from Connecticut to New Jersey, another one of my favorite performers, “the Clown Prince of the Gypsy Cabaret” will be making a special appearance sponsored by the brother event Wicked Faire. And yes, that performer is indeed Voltaire.

But why stop there with the reasons?

Collaborators Jeff Mach, Josh Marks (of SalonCon), and The Penny Dreadfuls, of the SS Icarus have more in store than what I’ve already talked about.

For example, the premier of the world’s first Steampunk musical Absinthe Heroes and an appearance by SepiaChord. And that is just the stuff they’ve already announced. Keep checking the Web site for regular updates.

Oh, and for you writers, and/or people who like to read stories, there’s Steampunk Unstuck, a short story contest. Find details and guidelines here.

The Steampunk World’s Fair is an all ages event, and will be held on May 14 to 16 at the Radisson Hotel Piscataway and the Embassy Suites of Piscataway. There is no dress code, but creative Steampunk costuming is more than welcome (see restrictions on weapons on the FAQ page). Actually the FAQ page is a wealth of information on any other questions you may have regarding attending or demonstrating at the festival.

The single price ticket is good for all events for the entire weekend (hotel rooms, food, and beverages, of course, are not included). If you purchase your ticket in advance, the price is just $30. In addition, you will receive a $5 gift certificate, which you can put toward anything you’d like to buy within the event. You will also be able to purchase your tickets at the door, but they will be $40 and won’t come with the $5 gift certificate. Knowing how quickly tickets are going, I wouldn’t take the chance of waiting, even if it didn’t mean forgoing the discount and free money—not like there are things inside the festival that you would have any interest in taking home with you anyway. . . .

And on that note, I leave you until the next time with not one, but two more promotional videos from Dogtoon Media:
