There were no starters playing but there was plenty of fire, fireworks and the one and only, FOOTBALL! The stadium a beaut, both inside and out other than the fact that the NFL paid for the opposing team’s quarterback to be on a huge poster hanging on the outside of the stadium. You’ve heard about it, the Super Bowl champs QB, Joe Flacco, is all over the Mile High city and lots are not too happy. As a football fan, why the hell would you be!
Excitement was in the air from before the game to the end of it. After all, the season starts Thursday, September 5 at Sports Authority field in Denver against the defending Super Bowl champs. It’s football season and the best time of the year! Even though the fourth week of the preseason is about rookies, roster invites and unlikely candidates trying to make a team of 53, it’s an NFL game!
Before the teams took the field, all you had to do was look around at fans’ gazing into the sky, high above the stadium. Three dots could be spotted. Look up into the sky it’s a bird, it’s a plane, no it’s three skydiver’s targeting Sports Authority Field at Mile High as their landing pad. What a rush to see something like this and the players hadn’t even been introduced. A great start to say the least.
The huge blow-up Bronco that gets blown up and deflated in a matter of minutes meant one thing. Here comes PFM, Peyton Manning and the buckin’ Broncos! Of course, the visiting Cardinals came out to a steady stream of Boo’s. The Broncos started off strong with their back-ups but at the end couldn’t hold onto the ball or lead, as the Cards’ pulled out a 32-24 victory. Some of those players that were on the field last night may never see an NFL field again. But as any real fan knows and believes, Any Given Sunday! You just never know.
From the huge explosions to the heat from the fire above the scoreboard next to the huge Bronco, after scores, the atmosphere of an NFL stadium is simply one of a kind. Especially the sense of “maybe it’s our year” all across the country. All eyes on the Ravens Vs. Broncos this Thursday, September 5, 2013 here in the Mile High City at Sports Authority Field on NBC, 8pm ET/6pm MT. Another reason why “Denver Rocks”!
