'The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie': Trailer freakishly shows gang out of water

Sure, SpongeBob SquarePants is one of the most iconic cartoon characters over the past decade, and everyone knows how life is on the floor at Bikini Bottom, but how about on land? The first trailer for "The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water" shows just how the gang from the deep would deal with things if they were thrown into the real world, per on July 31, 2014.

How do you feel about the gang being out of water?

Social media is freaking out over the trailer for what everyone is simply calling "The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie," and there's good reason as to why this is happening.

The last time the Nickelodeon group was on the big screen was back in 2004, but they stayed mostly underwater except for a few moments. This new film is going to take them on land and show how they look as 3D CG animated characters among the humans.

Nick officially released the first trailer, and they did it extremely early as the film won't hit theaters until 2015, but it has already generated a lot of attention.

In the trailer for "The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water," things start out quite normal for everyone, but that changes quickly. A villainous pirate is introduced in the trailer and lets everyone know how the Bikini Bottom team ends up land.

That pirate is Alameda Jack and he is played by Antonio Banderas.

As for the rest of the cast, they are all the returning voices that make the cartoon so awesome. Yes, you will hear the voices of Tom Kenny (SpongeBob, Gary), Bill Fagerbakke (Patrick), Rodger Bumpass (Squidward), and Clancy Brown (Mr. Krabs).

"The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water" hits theaters in 3D on Feb. 6, 2015.
