The splendors of winter are celebrated at Rochester, Michigan's Fire & Ice Fest

Located approximately 30 minutes north of Detroit, Rochester, Michigan is offering lots of family-friendly, fun outdoor winter activities at their 7th annual Fire & Ice Festival on Friday, January 24, Saturday, January 25 and Sunday, January 26. Admission is free.

Fire & Ice Festival Downtown Rochester is the site of activities for the Fire & Ice Festival. Among the activities offered at this year's Festival are free ice skating (but bring your own skates), snowshoeing, cross country skiing, tube sledding, ice carving demonstrations and ice fishing.

The Festival will feature horse-drawn carriage rides for $10 or $15 depending on the length of the ride and new this year is the Brooksie Way "Chill at the Mill" 5K run.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy the "Modes of Transportation" Ice Sculpture Show and the Big Bright Light Show featuring more than 1.5 million Christmas lights.

One of the main attractions for the Rochester Fire & Ice Fest will be dog sledding demonstrations and rides.

The Festival will close on Friday and Saturday nights with fireworks displays.

Dining options include Tastefest featuring local foods and food trucks will also be offering various cuisine for purchase. There will also be a Beer Tent for adults to enjoy.

Free shuttle service will be available.

Hours for the Fire & Ice Festival are 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is free but there are some fees for a few of the activities.
