The Soviettes reunion announced! Shows and rarities album in the works

Nearly four years after going on hiatus, local pop-punk legends The Soviettes are back in business. Red Sound Records will release a collection of rarities and b-sides (tentatively titled LP IV) March 16 and the band will reunite for two shows to promote the record - March 19 at the Turf Club and an all-ages show March 18 is rumored at a venue TBD.

The Soviettes' last release of new material, LP III, came out in 2005 and they played their last show together in 2006. In the meantime, singer/drummer Danny and singer/guitarist Annie formed Awesome Snakes, singer/guitarist Sturgeon has played with The Gateway District and singer/bassist Susy moved to California, where she joined That's Incredible.

All three side projects will open the show at the Turf. Check out what seems to be the cover art for the new record (or at least a preliminary version) on the MP3 player on the band's MySpace page.
