Carrie Underwood and the cast of “The Sound of Music Live!” will be back on NBC for an encore presentation of the musical special. The Huffington Post reported on Dec. 11, 2013 that NBC is planning to replace "It's A Wonderful Life" with a second showing of “The Sound of Music Live!” beginning at 8:00 p.m. EST on Dec. 14, 2013.
The live televised Broadway version of “The Sound of Music Live!” originally aired on Dec. 5, 2013 scoring large numbers for NBC with 18.47 million viewers watching. "It's A Wonderful Life" has been rescheduled to air on Dec. 20, 2013 on NBC.
Underwood shared her feelings on her Facebook page after the live show wrapped up saying "Glory to God tonight...I couldn't be more proud. What a tough thing to pull off and we did it! I am so blessed!!!”
The critics were not all kind when they weighed in on the live performance Underwood was so proud of playing the role Julie Andrews made famous. The Hollywood Reporter reported that "Carrie Underwood ably belts out the hits — but her acting leaves a hole where this live production's heart should've been."
Underwood headed to Twitter to answer to the tough words she received following her performance as Maria Von Trapp in “The Sound of Music Live!” on NBC. Underwood’s response to the criticism on her Twitter page said “Plain and simple: Mean people need Jesus. They will be in my prayers tonight... 1 Peter 2:1-25.”
