Carrie Underwood has been attacked by social media users ever since it was announced she would play Maria von Trappe in "The Sound of Music" live production. Even members of the von Trappe family, while they were not hateful like the public, expressed their doubts to ABC News about 30-year-old Underwood taking on the main role. On Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, 18.5 million viewers tuned into the live production and viewers, celebrities and even DiGiorno Pizza shared their mixed reactions on Twitter.
Underwood was given full credit by many critics for having the courage to take on a role played by highly respected actresses Mary Martin and Julie Andrews. She is famous for her music and while she has dabbled in acting, the majority suggests she stick with singing.
Here are some of the more good, the bad and the funny Twitter reviews.
@LindsHollister "BECAUSE IT'S PERFECTLY NORMAL MARIA HAS A SOUTHERN ACCENT IN 1940'S NAZI GERMANY."
@andylassner "Due to the huge ratings of #TheSoundOfMusicLive -please note that all future episodes of "Ellen" will be sung live."

@zachbraff "The Nazis probably would have left them alone if they didn't yodel. No one likes yodeling.
@PaytonTaylor129 "Silly Nazis. Don't they know Jesus is going to take the wheel for the von Trapps here?!

@DiGiornoPizza "Liesel is a pretty name for a girl. Pizzal is a prettier name for a girl.
@DigiornoPizza "HOW DO YOU SOLVE A PROBLEM LIKE MARIA? GIVE HER PIZZA FOR GOODNESS SAKES"
