I found “The Social Network” to be a fascinating movie. I didn’t know a whole lot about the Facebook story before hand, and the first time I saw Mark Zuckerberg he was giving away 100 million dollars on Oprah to help improve education or to help improve his image as some would say. I thought going in if he really did steal the idea for facebook as is widely believed, how does he live with himself knowing that? After the movie I felt differently about Mark Zuckerberg. He’d be the kind of guy I may attempt to befriend because I know what it is to want to be apart and left out of the in-crowd. On the other hand I couldn’t turn my back on my best friend and the one person that sacrificed to help me build a billion dollar company. I couldn’t turn my back on the one person that loved me beyond my socially awkward behavior that turned everyone else off. If this movie is true to the story of Mark Zurkerberg and how he created Facebook; His choices were governed by the issues with himself that he hadn’t acknowledged. The sweet irony or poetry as I like to call it is that a guy who was left out, created a social network that everyone wanted to be in. “You don’t make it to 500 million friends without making a few enemies” the movie trailer proclaims. Do you make it there with your dignity in tact? True story or not only Mark Zurkerberg can answer that!
