The Snowstorm Music Tour blows into town on Thursday, February 16 for a show at West Des Moines' Val Air Ballroom (301 Ashworth Road). Doors for the show open at 5:30 pm, and the show starts at 6 pm. The co-headliners for the event are T-Pain and Gym Class Heroes. Grieves and Budo, Outasight, DJ Dextrious, and Cris Cab will be the opening acts. (Check out the slideshow for pictures of all 6 acts.) Tickets for the event are $35 in advance and $40 at the door through the Val Air ticket office. Tickets may be purchased online through Ticketmaster for $32.50 plus fees.
T-Pain, born Faheem Rasheed Najm, is an award-winning R&B singer/rapper from Tallahassee, Florida. T-Pain has had two #1 albums, one #1 single, and nine Top 10 hits. He has won 2 Grammy Awards, 3 BET Awards, 2 BMI Urban Awards, 3 Ozone Music Awards, 1 People's Choice Award, 1 Teen Choice Award, and 1 Vibe Award since he quit the rap group Nappy Headz in 2004, and began singing R&B music. His current album, Revolver, came out in December of last year.
Co-headliners, Gym Class Heroes are a rap/rock hybrid from Geneva, New York. The Heroes formed in 1997 while still in high school. The band has had three Top 10 albums and two #1 singles. Their most recent #1 single, "Stereo Hearts", came off their current album, The Papercut Chronicles II, and has gone multi-platinum. GCH has won an MTV Video Award and a Hip Hop Nation Award. Grieves and Budo's recent collaborative album, Together/Apart, hit #1 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart and #13 on the Rap chart. Grieves is a Vans Warped Tour vet who is known for both his singing and rapping, and his longtime friend Budo provided the keys, horn, and guitar for the album, as well as serving as its producer.
Outasight (Richard Andrew) is a singer/rapper from Yonkers, New York. His first studio album is due out sometime this year. His current single "Tonight is the Night" has climbed as high as #20 on the Pop charts, so far.
Cris Cab is tearing up YouTube with his covers of Wiz Khalifa, Kanye West, and Foster The People. The 18-year-old talent has shown that he can produce just as much interest with his original works. Pharrell Williams has taken the young phenom under his wing, and it is just a matter of time before the Miami, Florida native has moved on from mix tapes to full-length studio albums.
DJ Dextrious (North Dakota native Taylor Bride) is a high-energy DJ who caught the attention of the Snowstorm organizers with his work with Loose Change Crew, 916 Crew, and Jade Presents.
