k.d. lang rose to fame in 1991 with her Grammy Award winning song Constant Craving, which saw multi-million sales and earned her critical acclaim, but it was Roy Orbison who gave lang a boost in her career when they recorded Orbison’s Crying as a duet.

In 1999, lang was ranked No. 33 on VH-1’s 100 Greatest Women in Rock & Roll, and in 2002, she ranked No. 26 on CMT’s 40 Greatest Women in Country Music. Lang is one of only eight women that have appeared on both lists.

Lang has recorded songs that have appeared in feature films, including, Even Cowgirls Get the Blues, Tomorrow Never Dies, Midnight in the Garden of Good an Evil, and Disney’s animated film Home on the Range.

Not since the start of her career 20 years ago has lang worked with a band of her own when she had recorded two albums with the Reclines. Her new band, Siss Boom Bang, is now on tour in support of their first album, Sing It Loud, which was released on April 12, 2011.
