The Sipping Point – everything you want to know about wine, spirits and travel

Local to the Maryland area but nationally recognized sommelier Laurie Forster now host a new radio program The Sipping Point on WBAL-AM Radio 1090 or streaming live online at wbal.com on Saturday afternoons from 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. A group of “media” type folks gathered this week as Laurie kicked off the launch of the radio program at Cork’s Restaurant here in Baltimore. Chef Jerry Pellegrino of Corks and Waterfront Kitchen was an early mentor to Forster who wanted to change her career path to wine.

“As The Wine Coach, I have always loved being able to bring my knowledge of wine and my passion for making it more fun and accessible together so that  people can  make it a part of their lives,” said Ms. Forster.  “I also think it’s important to talk about what’s happening around the world as much as it is to discuss what is taking place in your local community.  My radio show will incorporate both.”

Each week, Mr. Forster will bring her witty sense of humor and no-nonsense approach to food, wine, spirits and travel to the show. She will keep listeners abreast of the latest innovations, news and trends from the food and wine worlds and will also conduct interviews with celebrity winemakers, chefs, brewers and more.  She will also be answering questions from listeners and questions can be sent to radio@thewinecoach.com.

Laurie Forster, whose mission is to demystify wine one glass at a time, is one of the country’s leading wine experts and creator of The Wine Coach. The queen of wine edu-tainment, she is also the author of the award-winning book, The Sipping Point, and a regular guest on TV and radio shows across the country, including Martha Stewart Radio. She is also a national speaker for top corporate clients and a columnist for the Communities at The Washington Times and has written for, or been profiled in, dozens of publications, including Bon Appétit, The Washington Post, Crave, The Wine Enthusiast, Baltimore Magazine and Washingtonian.  Ms. Forster’s wine career began in Manhattan, where she studied with the American Sommelier Association and has since earned an Advanced Certificate with Merit from the Wine & Spirits Education Trust (WSET) and has trained at the Culinary Institute of America in Napa Valley.
