A few years ago Fred Hammond signed a group of eight family members to his record label F. Hammond Music and produced their CD entitled "Pour Out Your Holy Spirit", which would spawn several hits and the rest is history or at least that was how it was supposed to be. For the group the Singletons that was just the start of their career and now they are back. No longer signed to Hammond’s label, the group is now down to six; they are independent and have new music out for their fans.
Their new single "The Power of Love" is about the "power of God’s love and not just talk about love but actually being about love" says The Singletons. "This songs talks about how Jesus died for all of us and that we need to freely give love away because his death was the ultimate showing of love for us," they add.
The group says that sometimes it is the small gestures of love that really matter and this is the core of the beautiful ballad. "As we go forth in our everyday lives it is important for us to give love away. Whether it is helping someone to get something to eat; put shoes on their feet or just smiling at someone, sometimes that’s all anyone can do, is give that small gesture and it can mean so much."
Since bursting on the Gospel scene The Singletons have been very busy touring all across the country and overseas. "We did a European tour at the end of 2009 and the reception was beautiful. You are dealing with different cultures that speak different languages but the experience was wonderful. It was unique to see how all of the people love Gospel music." They state that the audience would ask for an encore each night and that the spirit of God was universal and it was felt throughout each venue where they performed. "We wouldn't change anything about that trip-well we did take a lot of luggage-maybe too much," they added with laughter.
They recently recorded an episode of the "Dr. Bobby Jones" show on BET that will air on December 30, 2013 and they have been added to his Gospel tour for Italy.
The Singletons are now focused on seeking God for the direction of their ministry. They are putting the finishing touches on their new project and they want God to be shown through their music. "Worship is what we love to do and for this next album we want to usher in worship and be able to speak and touch people’s lives."
Delivering people to the comforter is their goal and if history repeats itself they will be able to do exactly that with their new project. Learn more about the Singletons at http://www.thesingletonsfamily.com or follow them on twitter @SingletonsFam.
