The shred diet

Dr. Ian Smith has created a program that combines a low glycemic diet, meal spacing, and meal replacements. Those who follow the Shred diet will constantly be eating, 4 meals or meal replacements (soups, smoothies, shakes) and 3 snacks a day, over a six week program. The Shred diet follows a concept common in most diet plans, “diet confusion”. Diet confusion, like muscle confusion, tricks the body into increasing performance levels and boosting metabolism.

During Dr. Ian Smith’s interview on the Steve Harvey Show today Smith explained the trick behind the success of the diet. Eating heavier meals; pancakes, pizza, and other carb-loaded foods, during the day and eating meals consisting of produce and protein later in the day gives the body ample opportunity to burn more calories throughout the day. Dr. Smith insists this diet can be effective with quick, yet high impact cardio workouts.

Dr. Ian Smith is well known for his fitness advice and programs. Dr. Smith is the bestselling author of The Fat Smash Diet, Extreme Fat Smash Diet, The 4 Day Diet and Happy. He is also a medical contributor on The Rachael Ray Show, host of the nationally syndicated radio show HealthWatch on American Urban Radio Networks and served as the medical/diet expert for six seasons on VH1’s highly-rated Celebrity Fit Club. Dr. Smith was recently appointed by President Obama to the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports, and Nutrition.
