I remember a time when my Christmas list consisted of items such as a movie, perhaps computer gadgets, or clothing. Today, when I think about what I want for Christmas, nothing comes to mind except being with my family, along with some intangible items, such as: peace, harmony, love, clarity and joy. Obviously, there’s been a shift and it isn’t because I'm independently wealthy and have everything I want or need.
Perhaps this shift comes from the volatile world situations, or maybe even because I’m maturing. I wonder if the change in the things I desire, from tangible to intangible, is attributed to another shift though. Perhaps it’s that spiritual work I’ve done over the years.
Maybe recognizing that what’s really important in life has nothing to do with material aspects, but everything to do with the journey inward, is another baby step along my journey. By yearning to deepen my relationship with the Universe and be willing to explore the higher vision Spirit has for my life, my priorities have shifted from what I want from Spirit to what Spirit wants from me. This is why clarity is on my wish-list this year.
I have noticed another shift in how I feel when I’m living purposefully or when I’m more interested in doing what the Universe wants from me. What I feel is joy. When I live knowing and trusting that I’m doing what Spirit wants from me, life flows with ease and grace and I am blessed with joy.
As I look around I see many people feeling and thinking the same, and others not so much. It makes me wonder what the world would be like if everyone asked for peace and love instead of that iPad or Blue-Ray player this holiday.
My wish for you this holiday season is that you are blessed with peace, love gratitude, harmony, and that you also desire to explore what Spirit wants from you, rather than what you want from Spirit.
