It’s never too early to get dates logged into the calendar for the upcoming year. It helps to keep us locked into the events we place as “priority”, and helps to resolve scheduling conflicts later down the road.
The seventh annual Paranormal Meet & Greet will be held this year on Saturday, August 10th on the front lawn of the historic Hannah House, 3801 Madison Avenue, just south of downtown Indianapolis, Indiana. The yearly gathering of paranormal groups and enthusiasts will run from Noon until 4:00PM. The cost of admission—free, just bring yourselves and questions for the various investigators who will be holding court.
The Meet & Greet originated in 2006 and has continued at a steady pace with increasing attendance each year, highlighting the folks that are dedicated to their “hobby” of seeking answers as they investigate the unknown in and about Indiana. And they do love to talk about it!
Those in attendance include not only a small sampling of groups that service Indianapolis and the Indiana region, but also a dedicated collection of paranormal authors, film-makers, web-based radio shows, guest speakers, and a sprinkling of food vendors to make the afternoon that much more enjoyable. Tours of the Hannah House has been a fixture since the first year, and is a great introduction to the “home with a checkered past.”
Danielle Pitcher-Garrison, coordinator since the Meet & Greet’s inception, is already hard at work on the layout of the 2013 schedule. It’s not an easy task to pull this off…year after year, but each year there comes that moment when she can just take a step back and bask in the moment when it all falls together and takes on a life of its own. Maybe it’s at the end of the day… when everyone is packing up and the lawn empties, but there is that moment-- when the effort has become worthwhile and next year’s events are already beginning to formulate. It’s a labor of love.
The Meet & Greet is still months in the future, yet Danielle is already at work on the intricacies that will make the August session at the Hannah House a success. There is always that stone that doesn’t need to be left unturned. By August they will all be put to bed and the show will gather a momentum of its own. As Danielle locks in guest speakers, paranormal celebrities and such, I will pass these along to you.
The Hannah House Paranormal Meet & Greet is designed as a “family gathering.” The general public will have the opportunity to address their questions and personal experiences with those that can help. However, for the groups that are there—the opportunity for networking, catching up, sharing resources, and building alliances based on mutual respect. It’s a sad state of affairs when paranormal investigation becomes so territorial, and infighting and name calling become common place. The Meet & Greet is a time to come together and share in the wonder of what we are doing!
