The sergeant Schultz of presidents

Sergeant Schultz of the popular TV series Hogan’s Heroes was the affable guard that refused to get involved in any of Hogan’s schemes. By claiming “I hear nothing I see nothing I know nothing” it allowed him to destroy the integrity of the camp without having to take responsibility. Our president seems to be in the same boat. He seems to hear nothing and sees nothing going on in his administration.

This can be traced back to his few days as a senator representing the voters of Illinois. During his early time on the dole in Washington he missed 24% of the votes; the median for this group known for avoiding work is 2%. Of the times he bothered to vote rather than vote yes or no he voted present 129 times. So this means rather than take a stand he voted “present” more times than most senators missed voting altogether.

During his 2008 campaign he saw nothing for twenty years while attending Reverend Wrights Church. He didn’t know about Billy Ayers and his radical terroristic background. Didn’t know there are only fifty states not fifty seven. Once he got into office he didn’t know the economy was this bad. Didn’t know and never spoke to Governor Blagojevich about his old senate seat. Claimed he knew nothing about fast and furious. Told David Lettermen he didn’t know what the national deficit was. Knew nothing and saw nothing when four Americans died in Benghazi. Had no idea his top general was under investigation until after the reelection. Are you sensing a pattern here?

This know nothingism seems to be catchy in the Administration. Good old Joe Biden claims he and Obama knew nothing of security requests for Benghazi. Hillary knew nothing at all and besides what does it matter. When thousands of illegal’s were released from prison a few days ago Obama knew nothing , Big Sis Janet Napolitano knew nothing. In fact nobody knows anything but they are sure it was because of the Republicans and sequestration.

But all is not lost. He does claim to be one of the few people in the country to be a law professor without a law license. He does seem to know how to campaign. The most promising sign of admitting a problem is asking for help. During a news conference last week when asked what would he do differently in the future to break the gridlock in Washington Obama asked the press for some examples of what he should do.

So our president like Sergeant Schultz seems to have some redeeming qualities that could serve him well after our extended sentence of four more years is over.

I was tempted to use this space to get extra hits by stating that my columns are the only place for the truth today. But today’s internet users are wiser than that. The truth of the matter is I am exceedingly broke in the Obama economy and my good wife is too proud for entitlements. She is so...
