The CHIP lecture series continues Thursday February 20, 2014 with a Linda Cameron, who will speak about “The Self-Regulation of Health and Illness Behavior: Implications for Cancer Control.”

Cameron, a Professor of Psychological Sciences at University of California, Merced focuses her research on developing health communications and psychosocial interventions for individuals who have or are at risk for cancer and other illnesses, concentrating on a “self-regulation perspective by evaluating the cognitive and emotional processes influencing health behaviors and illness experiences,” in both a theoretical and applied aspect. It has also included the development and evaluation of psychosocial support programs for women with breast cancer and employing the use of conceptual and imagery contents of mental representations of illnesses.

The lecture will take place from 12:30-1:30 pm Video Conference Room 204 on the second floor of the Ryan Building at 2006 Hillside Road at the University of Connecticut in Storrs, and can also be viewed during or after the program at http://www.chip.uconn.edu/lecture-2-20-14. The link will become active shortly before the lecture begins.

Attendees can also order lunch by indicating their preference from the following selections by Monday, February 17, at 11:00am sharp via an email to lectureseries@chip.uconn.edu) and indicate option 1, 2, or 3:

1) Chicken Kabab (marinated tenderloins of chicken wrapped in pita bread with lettuce, tomatoes, onions and tahini or lemon garlic spread)
2) Beef Kabab (tender loin beef, marinated and grilled to perfection wrapped in pita bread with lettuce, tomatoes, onions and tahini sauce)
3) Grilled Veggie Sandwich (assorted grilled vegetables, served with humus and wrapped in pita bread with lettuce, tomatoes, onions and tahini sauce).
