The Secret Superfood, Kiwi Fruit

What’s green and black and a secret source of energy? A kiwi fruit. In the grocery store, many times it’s bypassed, because on the outside it’s a brownish- green non-descript, roundish fruit. Because it’s so small it’s usually on the edge of, or down below a more appealing fruit like bananas or apples. But don’t by pass the Kiwi.

On the inside, they’re kind of cute with a creamy-looking center and tiny green seeds surrounding a green surface. It’s not just the look of Kiwi. Kiwi is one of the superfoods that can give you an energy just like a cup of coffee. Kiwi fruit is packed with health promoting nutrients such as phyto-chemicals, minerals and vitamins. It is high in vitamin C, dietary fiber, potassium and magnesium and low in saturated fat, sodium and cholesterol. It has as much fiber as a bowl of oatmeal, as much vitamin C as two oranges and as much potassium as a banana. Kiwi fruit is easy to carry; in a pocket, a purse a lunchbag, quick to eat and doesn’t need anything else to go with it. It can be put on yogurt, meats, or mixed with other fruits in a salad or eaten alone.

So don’t bypass the kiwi in the grocery store. You’re missing out on a great treasure if you do.
