There is a book called The Secret. It is a best seller that was first published in November 2006. Before it was a book, The Secret was a movie that was also released in 2006.
The basic premises are that positive thinking and applying the law of attraction will result in people getting more of what they want. The Secret is still being purchased and discussed.
The Secret provides an interesting combination of visualization and action that works to help people get what they want. Many people feel that The Secret is full of new insights and revelations. It is a good summary of many older teachings.
One of the older sources for getting the Universe to cooperate with your personal goals is found in the Bible. It involves praying, which is an action in support of what you are seeking, and positive thinking that you believe that you are going to achieve success.
"Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours." Mark 11:24
One way to summarize this aspect of the secret is committed visualization. You know what you want, and you are taking steps to make it happen. The Secret recommends that you create a record of what you are seeking and then mark progress towards your goal. This makes your visualization more tangible.
While many people think that God is just waiting for their prayer request, the spiritualist view is that praying puts the person in alignment with the universal flow of energy that surrounds us. So long as what is being requested is not harmful to the individual or other beings, the energy of the Universe is available to make what you want happen.
Prayers always work, but not necessarily in the way you planned. Sometimes the Universe is steering you in a different direction. Sometimes the Universe realizes that you are just trying to serve yourself. Sometimes the Universe lets the participants work it out, as in when two groups of soldiers are praying for the other group’s defeat.
Spiritualists realize that prayers can have very positive results. Science often describes the unexpected results of prayers as miracles, which is anything positive that happens that science cannot explain. Spiritualists also call these unexpected positive results miracles, but they know that there were higher powers and beings involved. Spiritualists accept a lower standard of proof than science dictates.
One thing that will stop you from ever realizing your dreams and visions is a feeling that you are not worthy. No matter how much effort you make, and how clearly you visualize your goals, you will fail if you don't believe that you are worthy to receive these gifts. You are worthy because you are a child of the Creator of All That Is. You are here for a purpose, and you will be helped to fulfill that purpose by the Masters, Spirit Guides and Teachers.

In addition to faith, it is necessary to take action on your own behalf to make what you are seeking appear. Praying for what you want is not as powerful as doing what will make something happen while believing it will happen. You can think of this as “praying in action.” Worrying about how things will happen is praying for what you don't want. Stay positive.
It is attributed to Buddha that he made this final statement before his death.
“Decay is inherent in all compounded things; work out your own salvation with diligence”.
We can summarize the secret to successfully fulfilling your dreams in these few key ideas.
- Visualize the positive things that you want to occur.
- Take action in support of what you want.
- Ask for help from the Universe to achieve your visions.
- Be grateful for what you receive.
- Recognize that all things work for the universal good.
You have the secret to a happy life within you. Maintain your balance through the challenges and successes that occur. All things pass, except for your soul. Your soul is eternal. Love it and treat it nicely.
