The Second Floor Bar introduces molecular mixology

After months of research and preparation, Chefs Scott Gottlich and J Chastain have unveiled their molecular cocktail expertise as an avant-garde treat for all at The Second Floor bar. Techniques that had previously been utilized in the back-of-the-house, like making elote ice cream with liquid nitrogen at last month’s Cadillac Culinary Test Drive, are now making their debut at the front-of-the-house bar.

On Friday nights, by reservation only, guests will be treated to this Molecular Mixology show at the bar as Executive Chef Chastain demonstrates his molecular-fused cocktails charged with modern techniques. Guests will begin with a plate of two molecular amuse bouche, and as an added bonus, patrons can also partake in The Second Floor’s previously instated half-priced appetizer Fridays. This class is only the tip of the high-tech iceberg for Chef Gottlich as he has also recently incorporated a touch of molecular gastronomy in his new menu released in June at his other property, Bijoux.

The cocktail menu includes:

Fire and Ice Shot
Nitrogen frozen cherry mojito with flaming caramelized guinette cherries

Strawberries and Cremant Cocktail
Albrecht French Champagne with strawberry caviar

Bloody Mary Sorbet Trio
Nitrogen frozen sorbet with tequila, vodka and gin

Light Cosmopolitan
Hangar Mandarin and cranberry w/ lime Viogner foam

Nitrogen Car Bomb
Guinness float w/ nitro Jameson Bailey’s ice cream

Molecular Mixology takes place Friday evenings from 6-7 p.m., and cocktails are priced at $15.  For reservations, call 972.450.2978.
