True, there are women searching for fuller lips and others who recognize the irony of it all. Read the Liz Krieger's quote from the February 2014 Harper's Bazaar magazine, "Yes, the eyes are the windows of the soul. But the truth is that no one is looking at your beautiful blinkers if they're distracted by thin, dehydrated lips."
One look at my official Examiner photo will reveal that the above quote was never an issue for me. Being taunted growing up with such pointed phrases as "look at those soup coolers or come warm my coffee with those fat lips," were the norm for me. Having no idea that my style of lips would become a beauty standard, their plump attraction can now be viewed as both irony and fate.
Ms. Krieger's Harper's Bazaar article went on to inform that "the most popular treatment for creating natural but lush lips is injecting fillers." She also writes of a surgical technique (ouch) as well as what she calls a "plumping gloss."
All the while I was perusing the Harper's Bazaar article; my soup coolers (big lips-for those who have not yet caught on) were sporting an enormous smile. Today's pursuit of big and luscious lips could not have been predicted in my earlier years, so that is the irony. The big lips search is also fate for those of us with authentic soup coolers because the lip torment from back in the day is now a glorious and sought after beauty trend.
