The “Science Club of Long Island” on Jesus the fraud

We now conclude considering the various comments made by Oleg Dei who is the founder, president and publisher of the Science Club of Long Island. While the club claims to be about science, it is an anti-Christian support group and, apparently, Dei’s job description also includes, as he puts it, “I eat stupid dumb*** Christians for lunch!” (expletive removed).

His comments came about due to the essay Science Club of Long Island (which was originally posted at the blog Atheism is Dead which is one of the website True Freethinker’s predecessors).

Next, Oleg reiterates again (yes, “reiterates again” is redundant but it is indicative of just how many times his few stringed instrument plays out the same out of tune notes) the following:
What about Jesus who was a fraud and did not return for his second coming as promised Jesus mistakenly tells his followers that he will return and establish his kingdom within their lifetime. Matthew 23:36 & 24:34
Amen, I say to you, all these things will come upon this generation. (Matthew 23:36 NAB)
So with Evolution being taught in schools and the Bible banned, Christianity is indeed dead!

As noted before, Oleg continued quoting of partial texts only create problems for him. After all, he quotes Jesus stating “…all these things will come upon this generation” but does not bother quoting just what “all these things” are supposed to be. No, he merely prefaces with an assertion to the point that “all these things” are supposed to be, “return for his second coming…return and establish his kingdom” and that this will be “within their lifetime” aka “upon this generation.” Again, thus saith Oleg.

That he somehow correlates “Evolution” (whatever that may mean to him) with schools and the banning of the Bible with Christianity being dead is all very unimpressive and yet, indicative of his disjointed pseudo-logic.

To another commentator on the website, Oleg Dei wrote, “there is no evidence for a God do not make assertions you can't prove.” And to yet another, “The Bible is not taught in public schools as for christianity I have disproven it on my website. just because the kooks do not accept evolution as fact does not change the fact that it happened!”

Note that he is demanding that God’s existence be proved—not even that evidence be shown but that it be proved. He does so without providing proof to support his demand for proof. This is another mere assertion. And on he goes correlating the absolute truth of whatever is taught in public schools—what a strange standard indeed—if public schools teach “evolution” (whatever that is) then it must be true and if public schools ban the Bible then it must be false. Of course, logically, if tomorrow public schools banned the teaching of “evolution” then Oleg would proclaim it to be false and if public schools taught the Bible then Oleg would proclaim it to be true. Yet, this would require not only thinking logically but drawing the logic to its logical conclusion and this is something that Oleg refuses or is incapable of doing.

Atheism and Science : John Horgan, "In the Beginning..." - Scientific American

In fact, to the post Another Atheist Gives Up the Ghost – On the Atheism Just Is Approach, Oleg wrote:

This debate is pointless. The facts are simple there is no scientific evidence for a God or the supernatural. This has nothing to do with atheism. The existence of God is not common knowledge it is merely the cries of the supernatural.

If anyone has evidence for a God come out and prove it, the James Randi will pay 1,000,000. I issued this challenged to your hero Mariano and he was too much of a cowaed to accept it! I issued this challenge on my website…

Note that he does not define what “scientific evidence for a God or the supernatural” would look like. By definition science functions within certain parameters and thus, has nothing to say about anything beyond those parameters. Do we seek wet evidence of a dry object? Then why do we seek “scientific” evidence for God or the supernatural? Yet, the supernatural is the default position since nature cannot explain itself, cannot account for itself, cannot create itself and natural theology / general revelation points to a transcendent creator and even points to some of this creator’s characteristics—see: On the Flying Spaghetti Monster, the Invisible Pink Unicorns, et al.

If “The existence of God is not common knowledge” then how come it has been common knowledge to the overwhelming majority of the world’s population regardless of chronology, geography or theology? No, this is not a majority determines truth view—a view Oleg Dei holds.

Let us grant his—the existence of God is not common knowledge—view and consider the fact that countless people claim to have had experiences with God / the supernatural.

Now, if there have been no experiences with God / the supernatural then, there have been none and it may very well be that God / the supernatural do not exist.

Yet, we can only know that there have been no experiences with God / the supernatural if we already presuppose that experiences do not exist.

This is known as circular logic, arguing in a circle.

The fact is that there are two categories of evidence for YHVH’s existence: 1) evidence which we can provide and 2) evidence which only YHVH can provide.

As for 1) essentially, all we do is provide arguments, sometimes including evidences, and personal experiences. For example, everything is based on information: life and even explosions do not occur without previously existing information. The only known source of information is mind and this mind is what we call God. For more arguments see, Arguments for God’s existence.

As for 2) the evidence of intelligent creation is all around us. It is so very, very obvious that, for example, in the arena of biology atheists have had to admit design but then urged that the evidence be explained away:

Richard Dawkins (The Blind Watchmaker, p. 1),

“Biology is the study of complicated things that give the appearance of having been designed for a purpose.”

Francis Crick (What Mad Pursuit, p. 138),

“Biologists must constantly keep in mind that what they see was not designed, but rather evolved.”

In other words, adhere to an atheistic worldview at all cost.

Also, on the issue of fine tuning in the universe, the evidence is so undeniable that atheists appeal to a supernatural realm of their own making: the multiverse. For more on this see:

In the Beginning...Cosmology, Part I - The Pre Big Bang Scenario

In the Beginning...Cosmology, Part II - Book, Chapter and Multi-Verse

Five Finger Death Punch the Multiverse

Is the multiverse the atheist's supernatural realm?

In a typical atheist move, Oleg Dei has tuned “evolution”—a theory that is supposed to be about biology—and has turned it into a worldview. Since this worldview is in vogue and taught in the public schools he feels emboldened to conclude that “evolution” has something to do with YHVH’s existence or lack thereof.

Well, this author has been called many things but never before a “cowaed” (is that like anything like a “coed”?). Firstly, this author found all of these comments whilst conducting searches on my old blogs. Apparently, Oleg decided to flood the comment section of the blog after this author posted (and prominently displayed a hyperlink to) an announcement which stated that we would not be active in, not even reading, the comments section due to a combination of work and family responsibilities. Also, since he issued his challenge on his website apparently, this author was supposed to somehow keep up to date with the very latest thing that he posted. Sorry, not only had no interest but also had no time.

As far as “Jesus who was a fraud and did not return,” this was dealt with in part 3 of this series.
