The importance of nature in our lives is more than just feeling good and getting out into the fresh air, our whole lives depend on Mother Nature. Technology and living in houses has removed man from the bottom layers of the soul and ground that are so very critical for balance. Before there were grocery stores and farms to buy your food from there existed flora and fauna in abundance and we picked and rooted our own wild greens in woods and prairies not from a polished garden plot, and we shared with each other. More than anything else the primal gift of sharing is lost with the loss of Mother Nature.
Fences mark off individual properties and well-maintained lawns reduce the wilds down to mowable bright green vegetation that stands side-by-side in nothing but perfect unison. The true wild environment that was here before our founding fathers barely exists now. Our vital nature and our true existence can only be understood by taking care of the land and keeping it as natural as possible.
Nature heals us with her diversity
A nice lawn is pleasing to a barefooted soul but it speaks nothing of the health in the diversity of Mother Nature for each plant has its own value to the land and to the people and wildlife. Biodiversity is not often appreciated, as can be seen by the dominance of GMO seeds, all but wiping out important varying strains of corn, grains, soybeans, tomatoes and the like. All is not made well and ecosystems can’t thrive in an environment of one lone plant grown by technology and bred in a lab. The many different plants serve as food with many different proteins and fibers that serve as food and to build homes for whole creation of bugs, animals and aquatic life. Mother Nature is a valuable commodity that is all too often ignored for a swath of concrete.

What can be copied in lab by science is already alive in the environment and she has served as a pattern that man has patterned himself after. Once these things in nature become extinct there is no getting them back.
Economic gains come from resources taken from Mother Nature
Oil, gas, diamonds, pearls, trees, farming, water, everything we are is about her. She gives and gives and the big businesses and politicians and most people know nothing about giving back to her, or about renewing her resources and giving her time to replenish. People talk about the trees and the water but you can’t point your finger at too many politicians who are willing to nurture her boundaries and all that lies in between. Once her resources are gone what will they do for money then?
The rain forest? Most people have heard of them but most people know nothing other than we get medicines from the plants and it helps to provide rain for the earth. The rain forests are so far away from here, too far for anyone to care. There are areas of forest in the United States that act as rain forest and they are being chopped down just as quickly as the rain forest way over there in that far away country.
Extinction
People have heard of the word and link it to animals that are no longer around in the world. People take for granted that the store shelves have multiples of each item and the same must be true for everything in life. Many people have lost their jobs in the extinction of the economy. Many politicians think we should dig more, tear down more, gouge out the rivers and seas in the name of making more jobs and more stuff.
If only we could see the earth and what she looked like centuries ago would we be able to realize we have lost so much in nature already. Depending on your age you can look at Google earth maps ten years ago and the same trees and forests are gone or not as plentiful in that short amount of time. Imagine what it must have looked like 100 years ago compared to now.
I can’t help but feel sad for what doesn’t exist anymore, and feel sad for those who don’t even know it’s gone
Naturalizing properties into what is biodynamic for the weather and for us to live and survive in is the most important thing to be held accountable for. Looking around I can’t find too many of those like minds who will see the earth and lift her up to the heavens in reverence and protect her prosperity.
The fight for water in Georgia
When I first moved to Georgia someone told me that it was all fine and well the way I believed in the earth, but there was nothing I could do to change the minds of men who had lived this way for generations who didn’t think or see what they had always been doing as bad or wrong. It’s just every day business and making a living to them. “Sure its sweet you don’t want another nuclear plant in Georgia, but what about the folks who need electricity?”
There’s always another way
The fight over Lake Lanier’s water and its use is being fought over not just by Atlanta and the rest of Georgia but nearby states want their share too. Some politicians said building another reservoir was the answer. Some want to lay more pipe. But another dam won’t help the bass swim upstream to spawn or help the fishing that everyone comes here for, and if it doesn’t rain it’s just another dried up hole in the ground. What we need are the trees and the rest of the “green” to help the skies produce the rain and the water everyone is fighting so hard for now.
A chicken can’t produce an egg without a rooster. And Georgia and the world can’t survive without Mother Nature. Teach your children well.
