It’s been about a month now since Fashion Week wrapped-up at Lincoln Center. On Monday evening, as I walked up the stairs towards the fountain, I experienced the same rush of adrenaline that I have experienced each and every time I attend events at Lincoln Center.
The David H. Koch Theatre hosted the 2013 Winter Ball: A Night in the Far East for The School of American Ballet. The entrance was a true show-stopper. With an impressive, legendary French Maison Van Cleef & Arpels, I instantly knew this would be a grand affair.
It was as if Fashion Week and the Academy Awards produced a high-end off-spring with one evening gown better than the last at this intimidate gathering.

Both actress Kelly Rutherford and Amazing Fashion Designer, Carolina Herrera are no strangers to my nightlife column here on Examiner. Kelly Rutherford seems to travel in the same circles and has a flair for everything fabulous too! Carolina Herrera was last spotted at the Angel Sanchez show, apparently both Carolina Herrera and Kelly Rutherford have exceptional taste in events, so naturally they would be dressed to the nines for The School of American Ballet 2013 Winter Ball: A Night in the Far East!
This exclusive annual dinner dance is attended by 500 patrons, including the School’s board members and alumni as well as leaders from the New York corporate and social communities.
A one-time-only performance by the advanced students of The School of American Ballet choreographed by Silas Farley, who was selected this year by Peter Martins, Artistic Chairman of The School of American Ballet.
For the sixth consecutive year, Van Cleef & Arpels as the lead corporate sponsor of the gala, with Corporate Chair Nicolas Luchsinger; celebrating the friendship between SAB’s founder George Balanchine and Van Cleef & Arpels founder Claude Arpels.
The School of American Ballet was established in 1934 by legendary choreographer George Balanchine and philanthropist Lincoln Kirstein.
